DescriptionThe Diversified Analog & AI Solutions business unit is seeking a Director, Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented software/firmware engineers in our Hillsboro, Oregon location. In this role, you will manage the software development team to support a variety of custom ASIC designs, AIS platforms (SDK, BSP, Tools) to enable customers develop end products and also develop the complete solutions to customers. In addition, from working with the IC hardware team to specify the ASIC elements, through validation support of the hardware to complete reference designs collaborating with application product teams, you play an important role in the end-to-end product development. Skyworks AIS products are targeted at audio and wireless functionalities.
Responsibilities Lead software/firmware design, development in the US, and validation work to support custom ASIC designs. Work closely with senior engineering leadership to formulate the best approach to support existing and new products Hire top talent in the industry and grow their careers by engaging them and motivating them to excel Coordinate multiple development teams to balance resource allocation to a range of products in different development stages Insist on highest standards by employing software best practices in development, starting with well-reviewed designs and detailed documentation Apply your technical experience to successfully lead product development and meet deadlinesEducation and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering required 15+ years of experience building, developing, and leading high-performing software/firmware teams Experience in embedded software design, development and debugging in C/C++ in a resource constrained environment Experience with hardware bring-up and validation Experience with debugging embedded software systems: familiarity with JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. Experience presenting complex engineering topics to a broad audience in a clear, concise manner Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multi-functional teams about product requirements, user experience, system architecture, and project schedules Ability to inspire innovation and technical growth in your employees through hands-on mentoring and development Experience with build tools including make, assemblers, compliers, linkers, etc
Preferred Qualifications Expertise in system design/architecture Working knowledge of standard hardware protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB) Working knowledge of audio interface standards and concerns/pitfalls Experience with Python Experience with the ARC600, ARM processor line Experience with developing consumer devices with aggressive time-to-market deadlines A history of cross-functional leadership
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $166,600 - $333,100 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
