Webster Bank CIO organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Solutions Architect to join our team. The Solutions Architect would be responsible for guiding, developing designs, and managing a portfolio of applications with special focus on Integration and design of Micro Services to create and agile and modern banking architecture. The Solutions Architect would also be accountable for defining target architecture, strategy, and roadmaps to identify, implement and rationalize core banking solutions. The Solutions Architect partners with cross functional teams to bridge the gap between various teams and projects to make sure that solutions are consistent with the target architecture, are cost-effective, and rationalized to meet the business goals. The Solutions architect will provide the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to the application portfolio in the consumer banking domain. 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES 

Provide solutions and architecture for key business initiatives and own a portfolio of integrations that span across consumer and commercial banking domains. Work with business, operations, and application owners to identify, assess, and prioritize, opportunities of creating a portfolio of reusable services in line with prominent banking architectures and standards like open banking.Design and implement scalable microservices architecture that aligns with the bank’s business goals and digital transformation initiatives.Create reference architecture, design patterns and strategy for creating the APIs around the core banking systems and other applications to enable scaling, expansion and automation initiatives.Use Enterprise Architecture framework to create a roadmap for microservices and align with the other major initiatives in the bank.Provide architecture/solution support to strategic initiatives in bank and align with the services/integration strategy.Design and build a robust, performant, and scalable infrastructure to support build, run, monitoring, and management of services.Develop cloud-based microservices and APIs to support the bank’s growth and enhance customer experience, while ensuring security and performance requirements are met.Collaborate with the risk and cybersecurity teams to integrate security practices into the microservices architecture and manage potential risks.Mentor junior architects, engineers, and developers, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive working culture.Stay updated on emerging technologies, tools, and trends in microservices and integration platforms, and recommend their adoption where appropriate.Analyze the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation, and innovation). Analyze the technology industry, competitors, and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise. Build and maintain architecture standards and best practices. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or engineering.Preferred: Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, BIAN, TOGAF).Required: 5+ years of experience in microservices architecture and design, with experience in banking domain and standards like open banking and BIAN.Preferred: Demonstrable experience with integration design and platforms such as MuleSoft AnyPoint, Apigee, and BizTalk.Required: In-depth knowledge of API design and development, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and event-driven architectures.Experience with application integration patterns, middleware, ESB, API Gateways.Preferred: Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.Preferred: Understanding of financial services regulatory requirements and their impact on system architecture.Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with strong communication skills to explain complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.Experience in a banking/financial services environment is essential. Required to have experience in off the shelf core banking applications like Fiserv.Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies (e.g., ArchiMate, TOGAF, Zachman). Strong knowledge of microservices patterns, principles, and best practices.Expertise in API management, integration, and development with strong focus on scalability, security, and resilience.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js) and frameworks for building microservices.Leadership capabilities to guide and influence multi-disciplinary teams.

The estimated salary range for this position is $155,000.00 to $175,000.00. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
