Director/Sr Director, Valuation & Transaction Disputes (Damages Accounting)

Practice Overview:

Ankura’s Valuation and Accounting Advisory group advises outside counsel and provides expert witness testimony on complex commercial disputes regarding complex valuation, solvency, accounting, damages and financial advisory matters. Ankura’s experts present their findings to management committees, regulators, and state and federal courts, including U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court and U.S. District Court. We value companies and assets for quantum, transaction and financial and tax reporting purposes, perform forensic accounting analyses, work with debtors and creditors in restructuring transactions, perform solvency reports in contentious matters, and provide testimony to government regulators with regard to companies’ value and their ability to service debt and source capital while remaining solvent. We are also retained to determine the fair market value and fair value of businesses in a variety of industries, as well as to value complex intellectual property.

This role will be based in our Chicago Office on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities:

Working as part of a project team, perform critical, value-added work that help clients develop solutions to resolve complex disputes. Responsibilities may include developing and performing financial, accounting, valuation, economic, and statistical analyses and research; demonstrating proper documentation and quality control of analysis; providing detailed fact finding and research; and providing excellent client service.

NOTE: The level of Director or Senior Director will be determined during the interview and evaluation process.

Qualifications:

Required: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (or progress towards a CPA with at least 1 exam passed and meeting the 150-credit hour requirement) and/or progress made towards obtaining the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), Accredited Business Valuation (ABV), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) professional certifications

Required: Significant accounting experience and experience performing valuations

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, finance, economics or related disciplines

3-10 years of experience in:

Accounting at public accounting firm in an audit, tax or consulting capacity OR

Valuation consulting, for either litigation, accounting or transaction purposes

Financial and cash flow modeling using spreadsheets

Interpretation and critical analysis of financial statements

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
