Job Summary

The candidate for this position will need to reside in Washington, Oregon or Northern California as regular travel is needed in these locations. 

 

The Director manages all facets of an assigned region with accountability for safety, customer experience, financial performance and expenses, operational efficiencies, as well as staff and asset management.  Travels daily among area service areas to observe the work activities, inspect the facility and the operation, and to coach managers and employees on expected standards and behaviors.

Is able to run a successful operation through the efforts of front-line managers.   Is committed to world class safety and customer service. Duties and Responsibilities

Safety Management

Articulates a safety vision for his or her team; considers the impact on safety when making decisions; reinforces a safety mindset by acting as a role model within the region.          Is responsible for all aspects of safety within the assigned region, including ensuring manager and employee compliance with all safety policies, procedures and programs, compliance with safety codes and policies, overseeing the servicing and repair of company vehicles, ensuring customer installations and deliveries are safe and in accordance with state and federal regulations and establishing the expectation that all locations will achieve excellent scores in safety audits. Ensures employees within the assigned region have the training, tools, equipment, and vehicles to comply with safety policies and procedures.


Customer Experience

Makes customers a high priority; is committed to exceeding the needs of all customers; sets high standards for the area managers and their teams and monitors performance. Proactively identifies problems that negatively impact the customer’s experience and ensures that customer issues are resolved in a timely manner.  Celebrates excellent customer service with the field service teams and recognizes individuals who provide exceptional service to customers. Successfully leads the Region in the implementation of priority customer retention plans and visits.  Manages community relations activities including those involving regulatory agencies, officials, and community leaders.


Operational Efficiency

Monitors region performance reports, dashboard and utilization metrics and other monitoring tools to ensure an efficient, productive, and profitable operation in order to optimize personnel, vehicle utilization and expenses. Conducts weekly productivity planner/service planner call with Delivery and Service Coordinators to be updated on area performance and compliance. Ensures all daily, weekly, and monthly work processes and reporting are done accurately and timely.


Team Management

Plans, directs, and manages staffing and development of managers and employees by; effectively communicating company strategic goals, conducting effective and timely performance appraisals, coaching, and ensuring all required training for employees is completed. Ensures the professional appearance of AmeriGas facilities, equipment, and personnel. Consistently communicates and updates critical performance metrics for the Area and Region to each member of his/her team. Addresses employee HR issues and partners with HR for support.


Operating Expenses and Financial Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of the P&L performance for the assigned areas.  Holds managers accountable to assigned KPIs. Proactive involvement in purchasing activities and expenditures for the region. Responsible for accurate and timely approvals for payroll and accounts payable submissions; manages the workflow for credits and certain rebills. Manages pricing concessions and new pricing contract approvals. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to analyze business reports, and to interpret performance metrics. Ability to create and execute a business plan; is able to produce effective business communications for managers, employees, and customers. Is able to read and understand contracts, leases, agreements for service, and vendor requirements. Demonstrated leadership, communication, coaching and development skills. Education and Experience High school diploma required; college degree strongly preferred. Five-seven years in a management position is required; multi-unit experience preferred.   Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. Valid driver’s license required. Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hazardous or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and flammable materials.  The employee will be working in both office and external work environments.

The pay for this position ranges from $118,000.00 to 174,000.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation includes eligibility to earn a performance-based bonus or commissions on completed sales.
