Job Details:

Purpose

Develop, implement and evaluate Disability and Access education, communication and outreach programs in collaboration with UT’s Disability Cultural Center, D&A staff, student groups, and campus and community partners. Oversee D&A communications, including newsletters, website updates, emails, and social media. Support D&A staff with administrative tasks and special projects as needed. Work closely with the Disability Cultural Center to establish and maintain relationships with campus and community groups and serve as a point of contact for campus and community inquiries.

Responsibilities

Outreach, Education and Event Coordination 
Oversee all daily logistical operations of education and outreach programs, including but not limited to: scheduling trainings, securing supplies for trainings, tabling, developing and implementing educational programs and staff development opportunities, and coordinating and marketing events and opportunities

Collaborate with campus partners to plan and execute campus-wide events and programming, including Disability Access and Belonging Month, orientation events, and Disability Graduation

Establish and develop successful partnerships on campus that are mutually beneficial and support increased accessibility on campus. Facilitate relationships and coordinate events with career services offices, development, and other campus and community partners related to employment, internships, and career development

Communications and Marketing
Manage D&A and DCC communications (monthly newsletters, social media, emails, and website) and collaborate with the communications team on marketing campaigns and assets. Create and update educational materials and reports, including but not limited to: handouts, videos, online modules, annual reports, etc.

Screen, schedule, and complete interview requests for student assignments and published media
 

Training and Program Development
Develop and conduct trainings for the University community (including students, faculty, and staff) on disability and accessibility. Oversee program updates, evaluation, and training of facilitators

Assess outreach and education program effectiveness and recommend changes in programming, procedures, and policies, as appropriate. Develop and implement new activities and programming
 

Student and Community Support
Serve as the point of contact for general inquiries to D&A. Provide referrals and resources where appropriate. May assist with Drop-In and/or intake appointments with current or prospective students and families

May co-supervise student staff, interns, and/or graduate students

Organize and facilitate joint Disability and Access/Disability Cultural Center Student Advisory Committee and Faculty Advisory Committee

Support operations of the physical Disability Cultural Center space
 

Administrative 
Prepare program budget and control expenditures in accordance with budget allocations

Function as a member of D&A, assist with general functions of the office and special projects as assigned

Oversee disability-related scholarships and awards
 

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a field related to the work to be performedDemonstrated successful experience in program design and implementationDemonstrated knowledge of the lived disability experience, disability culture, disability studies, and inclusive designExperience working with student organizations, student development, student advising, and event planningStrong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, faculty, staff and external partners from varying backgroundsDemonstrated experience in public speaking and group facilitationDemonstrated interpersonal and management skillsExcellent communication skills (ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing) Experience developing content for email, social media, and other outreach communicationsAbility to work effectively and pay close attention to detail in a high traffic area Skills to prioritize workload, with frequent interruptionsReasonable knowledge of policies and procedures of a large university is desirable
 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Disability Studies, Social Work, Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Demonstrated successful experience in student services delivery and student group advising in an educational settingExperience working in higher education settingGeneral knowledge of reasonable accommodations in an academic settingFamiliarity with Universal Design for Learning and/or assistive technology
Experience as an administrator of communication platforms (Instagram, Wordpress, Drupal, MailChimp, etc.)Individual or group clinical or counseling experienceExperience managing organizational social media accountsDemonstrated strengths in written communication including emails, newsletters, etc.

Salary Range

$61,000 + depending on qualifications

Work ShiftM-F, Flexible between 8am-5pm

Employment Eligibility:
