Job Description:

Prepare and/or coordinate complete estimates including analyzing specifications, proposals, quantity take-offs and other documentation to prepare estimates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Review proposal specifications, drawings, and etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate

* Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures

* Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work

* Search and analyze options for most effective means and methods of construction of assigned scope of work

* Coordinate the solicitation of subcontractor and vendor pricing, including detailed review of scope.

* Set productive, consistent and acceptable work example

* Prepare estimates and formal bids for heavy civil, industrial and treatment plant projects.

* Manage and maintain files of working documents for estimate calculations including accurate information on prices from subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.

* Identify risk items and develop plans to mitigate risk items.

* Work closely with field superintendents and other members of field project teams to solicit input related to estimate preparation

* Submit 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadlines, show creativity and resourcefulness to gain best pricing, review bid requirements thoroughly, and ask follow-up questions on every bid.

* Monitor job cost data on all projects, and adjust bid productions and approach as appropriate.

* Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other equivalent construction related experience

* Minimum 2 years of estimating earthwork, grading, shoring (SOE) and other associated site work for heavy civil, industrial and/or treatment plant projects

Skills and Abilities:

* Demonstrated leadership, communication and strong interpersonal skills are requisite

* Ability to estimate multiple projects at the same time with proven time management skills

* Ability to work independently or as a member of a team

* Strong work ethic to complete tasks in a high quality manner

* Solid attention to detail with the ability to be a problem solver

* Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK and Microsoft Office programs strongly desired.

* Thorough understanding and experience interpreting geotechnical reports to determine how operations and cost will be impacted by ground conditions.
