Role description:
Arcadis is currently seeking a Discipline Leader, Ministry of Transportation Ontario / Bus Rapid Transit, to join our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) in Canada.
Discipline Leader is a senior-level position responsible for providing leadership and expertise in municipal roads and highways engineering disciplines. The incumbent will oversee and guide a team of engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of projects related to MTO and Bus Rapid Transit. This role involves project management, technical expertise, and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve high-quality and efficient outcomes.
As the Discipline Leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the this discipline. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects and providing technical expertise in municipal engineering. Additionally, you will contribute to the improvement of the practice by prioritizing service delivery and client experience whilst ensuring we have the right team and skillsets to secure new work.
Your role will involve independent collaboration with multi-discipline teams, overseeing a diverse range of projects.
In addition to your technical expertise and project management, you will take the lead in coordinating business development and client engagement activities, further enhancing our presence in the roads and highways municipal sector.
Role accountabilities:
Leadership and Team Management: Provide strong leadership to the MTO/BRT discipline team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment Project Management: Oversee the planning, design, and execution of projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Collaborate with project managers to resolve any issues that may arise Technical Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert in MTO/BRT engineering, staying abreast of industry trends, standards, and best practices Delivery: Serve as a Design Lead or Technical Director on larger and/or strategic projects Client Interaction: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring client satisfaction Team Development: Mentor and guide team members, fostering professional growth and development within the discipline. Sourcing the right talent to build a strong and diverse team Collaboration: Collaborate with other discipline leaders and departments to ensure seamless integration of MTO/BRT components within larger projects Regulatory Compliance: Ensure projects adhere to all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards in the roads and highways sectorQualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field Extensive experience (15 years) in roads and highways engineering Proven track record in project management and team leadership In-depth knowledge of transportation design standards and regulations Ability to cultivate and maintain client relationships Experience in business development and proposal preparationWhy Arcadis?
