Job Summary Duties include removing soiled plates and flatware from tables and sanitizing. Complete preparation for the next day. Restock items, unload delivery trucks, and help prepare cook stations, clean appliances and machines, and other duties as assigned. Individual is committed, communicative team player with excellent time management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy setting and adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures required. Position requires the ability to stand or walk for 8 hour shifts and lift at forty (40) pounds. Job Duties & Responsibilities + Clean and polish tables, counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in food service areas or other areas of restaurants and mop or vacuum floors. + Clean spilled food, drink, or broken dishes and remove empty bottles and trash. + Scrape and stack dirty dishes. + Carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning. + Cleans, per approved sanitation and safety guidelines, all dishes, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, and related food preparation/serving items and equipment. + Operates dishwasher per approved guidelines, checks all items for cleanliness, and stores clean, dried items and equipment in proper places. + Maintains adequate supplies of item, such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, or trays. + Stocks cabinets or serving areas with condiments and refills condiment containers. + Maintains all cleaning/washing equipment at proper temperature and in proper operating order. + Loads equipment correctly, checks temperature per approved schedule and adjusts as needed. + Disassembles, inspects, cleans, and performs maintenance on and reassembles equipment properly. + Prepares kitchen for next day by cleaning and restocking areas and cook stations. + Sorts dishes to be used by cooks for food preparation. + Prepares meals by following methods of food preparation and cooking, sizing portions, mixing of sauces and garnishing of food to ensure food is prepared in prescribed manner as prescribed by lead cook. + Maintain solid knowledge of all food products and is able to skillfully apply culinary techniques. + Maintains proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department requirements. + Demonstrates talent for interacting with a wide variety of people. + Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities. + Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to + Assisting with preparation for social events. + Disposal of garbage in proper waste/refuse containers. + Assisting in some food and/or tray preparation, as needed. + Provide assistance to other staff as time allows, including supply/equipment delivery and other duties that support the mission of KIC. Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience) + Highschool Diploma or Equivalent + Proof of valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (when DL is required for the job). Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience) + Two (2) years of experience in meal preparation, recipe standardization, and quantity food service preferred. + A combination of relevant experience, education, and training may substitute for education and experience requirements on a year-for-year basis. + Experience in community clinic preferred and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Knowledge of appropriate use and application of cleaning solutions and solvents. + Knowledge of infection control regulations. + Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal culture and lifestyle, working effectively with AI/AN populations. + Effective oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to the lifestyles of targeted participants. + Skills in operating personal computers using a variety of computer software. + Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts. + Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws and KIC policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.). + Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures. + Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines. + Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
