**Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Supervisor, LifeFlight Communications is responsible for day to day operations of the Communications Center. Supervisor will function as a System Status Controller when needed and handle staff and customer service needs.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Monitors and manages dispatch operations in real time. Ensures availability of resources for daily operations.
+ Demonstrates critical thinking abilities when triaging patient transports and making decisions. Makes decisions in an independent and high stress environment.
+ Assist in tactical level of deployment to meet system needs including maintaining and managing employee schedules.
+ Receive, handle, and route inter-agency disputes/issues to the appropriate resource.
+ Provides patient/client follow-up. Assists with the investigative process for handling and reviewing incidents and issues.
+ Maintains high level knowledge of all policies, procedures, and protocols for operation of Mercy Health – Life Flight Network. Understands state and local EMS regulations, local EMS structure and procedures in the service area.
+ Actively engage in employee relations to maintain a positive and disciplined work environment.
+ Collaborates with other management team members to achieve organizational goals and strategies.
+ Maintains a quality management program within the Communication Center center and ensures goals are met.
+ Maintains high level knowledge of the Mercy Health – Life Flight Network Emergency Response Plan (ERP). Plans and executes drills of the ERP and emergency-procedure testing.

**Licensing/Certification**
BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)
Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) - through an approved International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) (required)
Certified Flight Communicator - International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists (preferred at time of hire; required within 24 months of hire and maintained through employment)
Ohio EMT, Paramedic or RN license (Preferred)
**Education**
High School/GED (required)
Bachelors in Healthcare or Public Safety related field (preferred)
**Work Experience**
3 years in EMS or healthcare/public safety related field (required)
3 years in EMS or previous helicopter air ambulance dispatching experience. (required)
2 years of progressive management experience. (required)
**Training**
Incident Command System (ICS) 100 (required)
Incident Command System (ICS) 200 (required)
Incident Command System (ICS) 700 (required)
Pass initial Operations Control Specialist training within 12 months of hire and maintain throughout employment. (required)
**Language**

**Patient Population**
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

**Working Conditions**
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel.
