GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Maintains appropriate dispatch/communications support for prehospital services; manages and assigns incoming ambulance providers with a physician and other key staff; ensures that databases are well maintained for the generation of reports relative to communications activity within the dispatch center.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answers, effects, routes, and documents requests for medical command/notification of EMS transport units, subsequent notification of receiving facilities, and where appropriate, specialty response teams within those facilities. (20%)Completes requests for assistance or information by greeting customers, retrieving vital information, answering questions, controlling demanding situations, referring inquiries and assigning the appropriate action from the service staff. Identifies customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with actual and potential patients and patient representatives able to understand service requirements. (20%)Controls and coordinates crew utilization by priority directing requests for assistance, emergency, nonemergency, transfer or special coach. (15%)Prepares reports and records by transcribing, inputting, editing and copying accurate information in a timely manner. (15%)Maintains dispatch supplies and equipment by checking stock, anticipating needs and following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures. (10%)Maintains a working knowledge of all policies, procedures, response plans and reference data required to direct and assist crews and management during operations. (10%)Ensure condition of the station by performing maintenance, housekeeping and other related duties. (10%)Performs other duties as assigned or required.QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
High school diploma / GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Current state driver’s license.Must be familiar with computers working in a Windows networked environment.Preferred
