Display Architect
**Summary:** As a Display Architect at Meta Reality Labs, you will lead architecture on upcoming Glasses form factor displays, helping drive the overall strategy & roadmap as a part of the teams designing, building, and testing prototypes for future consumer wearable experiences. This role will work in teams, brainstorming big ideas, working in new technology areas, thriving in ambiguity, mapping complex trade spaces to the details that matter, driving a concept into a prototype, and ability to envision how a prototype could transition into a high-volume consumer product. The Display Architect will lead the early definition and convergence of complex and novel display systems aimed at pushing beyond the state-of-the-art consumer systems. The role requires technical communication up and down the product stack including with component and module teams within the display community at Meta as well as with cross-functional teams across ID, hardware engineering, partnerships, and supply chain. **Required Skills:** Display Architect Responsibilities: 1. Technical delivery on hardest architectural problems in early phase concept development (ensuring translation of product to functional requirements for the display system). 2. Map display requirements to viable architectures for new programs and identify path to downselection including risk identification and critical questions. 3. Engage with technology project leads, and various component SMEs in creating the overall display system architecture as the starting point for product execution, effectively communicating the technology and platform strategy to both internal and external stakeholders. 4. Be a continuous guardrail for support programs through the product development cycle, looking around corners for risks, supporting major issues, proactively driving execution. 5. Contribute to the development of the long term technology roadmap, sponsor and aim new technology introduction (NTI) initiatives, guide management on these long term technology investments. 6. Drive early prototyping activities to address core product questions and inform key performance indicators. 7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on blank-slate and early-phase prototyping and product exploration, mapping it to strategies and platform questions which need to be resolved. 8. Be a storyteller that builds the narrative for the product and display technology, reducing complexity through driving clarity for the cross-functional team and leadership. 9. Understanding of customer needs, systems skills, and previous roles driving architecture convergence on complex designs. 10. Travel up to 15% of the time domestically and internationally. **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 11. 6+ years of product experience in optical or display systems. 12. Experience working with one or more of these technologies: displays, cameras, optics, electronics. 13. Communication experience working with Optical Design teams, Product Development engineers, Product Managers, and other hardware/software cross functional teams. 14. Experience working with partnerships teams and external partners at both a supply base and product level. 15. Experience in designing, building, and shipping advanced optical systems. 16. Experience working collaboratively with product leaders and experts in different fields to make architectural tradeoffs and demonstrate a capacity to lead a team to data-driven decisions. **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 17. MS/PhD in Optics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, other related technical field or equivalent experience. 18. Experience with virtual/augmented reality display systems and their associated technologies, including but not limited to LCoS, uLED, OLEDs, waveguides, pancake lenses, etc. 19. Experience modeling system power, and using those models to inform trade-offs against key architectural decisions (e.g. battery life, thermals, silicon roadmaps, power load profiles). 20. Demonstrated experiences in global system optimizations through data analysis and modeling. 21. Demonstrated experience with influencing key partners, internal and external, on roadmap and new technology development. **Public Compensation:** $204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits **Industry:** Internet **Equal Opportunity:** Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
