Job Description

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for a/an Distinguished Associate Professor/Professor and Director of the PhD Program in Psychology to begin Fall 2025.

This is a tenured (10.5 month) position with a reduced teaching load (2 classes per semester) to allow for the management of the PhD Program. Primary duties will include teaching 2 courses per semester and administrative responsibilities that come with a 10.5-month appointment. As this a tenured position, maintaining and active research agenda, commensurate to rank, is required. Duties also include recruiting, advising, assessment of courses and the program, curriculum improvement and development, and seeking external grant funding. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. 

The Department of Psychology and Communication at TAMIU offers the B.A. in Psychology and two graduate programs. The Master of Science in Psychology and the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. The B.A. in Psychology is one of the largest undergraduate programs on campus.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in psychology (preferably in bilingual/multilingual cognition, language, or information processing and human cognition). Candidates must have a record of publications and teaching experience commensurate to rank (at least 5 years of full-time teaching experience in a university setting). Tenure will only be granted after approval of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. We desire candidates who have an active research track record of peer-reviewed journal articles that are nationally and/or internationally recognized as well as experience writing external grants. We strongly encourage candidates with experience obtaining significant external grant funding and administrative experience as a program coordinator, program director, or department chair.

Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
