In this role, the PMC Materials Strategy Leader will own key Engineering Material Systems (EMS) Organization, Polymer Matrix Composite (PMC) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and guide a multi-disciplinary and cross-functional team to success achieving KPI goals by year end. In addition, this leader will own problem solving which will include Problem Solving Reports (PSRs), TOPS8D, and Root Causes/Corrective Actions (RCCAs) around development and fielded PMC Material Systems. This leader will also own and or influence budgets and operating plans. The role is guided by the EMS Organization and our engineering policies and procedures. The role has autonomy within the EMS Organization's Composite Section of the overall EMS Department within GE Aerospace. The role will have a major impact and influence across product lines that have PMC materials within GE Aerospace including across our global composite teams. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.

This Distinguished Staff Engineer Leverages deep domain expertise to strategically define and drive new technology or cross-program material and component level process (ex. PMC chemical processes, PMC inspections / NDE, heat treatment, brazing, coatings, etc.) development, qualification and/or production continuous improvement efforts to deliver producible components connecting Technology Readiness Level (TRL) to Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL). Establishes new best practices/design requirements and implementing recent advancements in technology. Defines a strategic path to implement processes and chemicals with relevant MRL/TRL mechanisms. Manages and communicates technical and programmatic risks to senior leaders. Documents and shares lessons learned within and outside organization. Actively engage in mentoring and advancing the technical competency across the team.

Conceptual, or theoretical activities relating to the development, improvement, and usage of Polymer Matrix Composite (PMC) materials, coatings, and processes undertaken to build, apply, or shape the materials.Developing expertise in own function. May include roles that are experts in their discipline, providing professional or thought leadership. Influences policy and ensures delivery within PMC materials and processes, linking with other parts of the organization.Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.Leads others to find creative solutions within complex PMC manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Employs sophisticated operational/product management, manufacturing or engineering techniques. Interaction with adjacent functions needed to solve issues. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Presents business or technical discipline solutions to leaders. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.May own and manage key business metrics and other leading indicator metrics which includes communicating status to leadership, escalations to leadership, and owning escalation follow-through.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or collegeMinimum five years of experience in a leadership engineering role focused on PMC materialsLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
