Distribution Center Assistant Manager
Distribution Center Assistant Manager (Morning Shift) ClearVision Optical is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Distribution Center Assistant Manager to lead our morning shift operations. In this role as a working manager with hands-on responsibilities, you will ensure the seamless and timely processing of purchase orders while upholding our high standards for accuracy and efficiency. As a key leader in our distribution center, you will drive operational excellence, inspire a motivated team, and maintain a positive and efficient work environment. We are seeking a candidate with a solid background in warehouse management, exceptional leadership abilities, and a passion for optimizing processes and developing talent. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: + Interact with manager to receive daily departmental goals and report progress against objectives + Issue resolution and problem-solving – assist in strategic planning + Lead, motivate, and support team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment + Address any operational issues promptly and effectively, ensuring high standards of performance + Create an engaged, safe work environment by listening and interacting with all employees + Deliver on the job training to new employees and cross-train existing employees + Provide translation for Spanish-speaking employees, both on a one-to-one and group basis + Collaborate with the product team keeping the team up to date with QC and issues that populate Process Improvement: + Liaison to other CVO departments - receive requests from other departments, determine if manager input is necessary and service request + Participate in project management (physical inventories, ERP implementation, month-end sales push, etc.) and direct staff on special projects + Implement and monitor processes to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment + Utilize RF devices and other technology to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy + Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety + Develop cross-training capabilities to ensure versatility among team members and reduce redundancies Receiving Oversight: + Monitor and verify the accuracy of incoming shipments, ensuring that all packages are properly packed and labeled before acceptance into inventory + Coordinate with vendors and carriers to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies + Oversee the inspection of received goods for quality and quantity, documenting any damages or issues for further action + Manage the sorting and organization of incoming inventory according to designated storage areas and inventory management systems Distribution Center/ Warehouse Management: + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, updating supplies as needed + Oversee inventory replenishment and assist with cross-training in the receiving, warehousing and QC department + Utilize forklift and pallet jack for inventory management and movement + Oversee cycle counting and maintain accurate inventory control to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize discrepancies + Collaborate closely with the purchasing manager to streamline inventory processes and improve supply chain efficiency Additional Duties: + Assist with other warehousing tasks as needed, including receiving and storing inventory + Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support organizational goals + Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and warehouse activities + Report any building related issues and work with maintenance staff to ensure safety Position Requirements: + Minimum of 5 years of experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment + Minimum of 2 years experience supervising or leading a team in a warehouse or distribution environment + Proven experience with RF devices and shipping technologies is preferred + Experience in a high-growth distribution center and managing a high-volume, same-day fulfillment operation is a plus + Forklift certification and experience with pallet jacks are required Skills: + Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure + Basic computer skills: proficiency in MS Excel or MS Access is preferred; experience with Power BI is a plus + Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach + Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable + High school diploma or GED preferred Physical Requirements: + Ability to lift and move packages and inventory items up to 50 lbs + Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently Schedule: + Enjoy a consistent schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday with one hour for lunch, allowing you to balance work with personal time + Ability to have availability to work additional hours as needed to support staffing coverage and opening and closing needs. + Must have reliable transportation to work onsite at our home office in Hauppauge, NY Compensation & Comprehensive Benefits for Work/Life Blend: + Culture First: We are dedicated to fostering a high-performance environment that attracts top talent.
