Position Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the North American Distribution network including: Budget Mgmt., Performance Mgmt. – with specific focus on Safety and Quality, 3PL Mgmt., development and implementation of on-going productivity programs. In addition, the position will ensure the distribution organization is integrated with appropriate development and succession plans. This extends to 3PL providers be insuring they are integrated into the McCormick operating Philosophies. In conjunction with the North American Logistics Director, assists with strategy and program development to achieve “Best in Class” in the above categories and by delivering cost optimization, risk mgmt., process standardization, people development and motivation and meeting annual Corporate objectives.

Contributes to the development and is responsible for the execution of operational plans for the North American Logistics function, including but not limited to Budget Delivery & CCI, which supports the achievement of North American Supply Chain & business unit strategic objectives through the establishment of sustainable operating strategies, goals and key performance indicators.

Leads the advancement of HPWS throughout the Distribution network. Develop and coach direct reports to include development plans and participates in the creation of a 0-5 year succession plan for key roles. Also, mentors individuals within the Supply Chain function.

Provides leadership support for the North American Logistics organization – consisting of initiative sequencing, resource management, involvement in long term plan creation and refreshment and service as champion of programs.

Knowledge sharing, benchmarking current & future industry trends with peer Consumer Product Goods companies and other external outlets (gov’t. agencies, etc.). Translates information into actionable strategies for the function.

10%

Assures compliance of all DC’s operations with organizational policies and procedures and national, regional and local regulations (Audit Ready). Assures a safe working environment ensuring that all employees understand their role and commitment to the safe operation of the facility.

 

Direct oversight for 3PL’s.

Description

Level of Education and Discipline

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Operations, Transportation, Supply Chain or Procurement.

Certification and/or Licenses

 

Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen

6+ year’s experience in a Logistics/Supply Chain environment with appropriate business and leadership experience. 6 additional years of experience in lieu of degree. 2 + years project management, execution of or participation in large, multiple or cross-functional projects. Knowledge of North American Logistics industry and networks. Proven experience and success in leading teams, good collaboration skills and ability to support organizational change, negotiate and influence. Experience managing 3rd parties. Ability to design supply chain metrics to drive performance and appropriate corrective actions. Regulatory requirement /quality assurance, customer requirements, financial control, asset utilization, operations control, sustainability, environmental health & safety, leadership and human resource management. Responsible for management decisions and activities. Supervises the work of all exempt employees both managers and independent contributors in all departments. Has full responsibilities including hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Able to successfully prioritize when faced with requests, demands, and deadlines of warehousing and logistics to meet customer demands.

Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence

Must identify and understand personal values of superiors, subordinates, peers, and others. Prepares thoroughly for negotiations. Influencing, negotiating, building relationships, and communication skills. Handles confrontations with tact and diplomacy. Daily interaction with senior management, internal and external customers. Weekly tactical and strategic planning sessions with other McCormick senior management. Monthly strategic planning sessions with other McCormick Logistics & Distribution leadership.

Other Skills and HPO Competencies

Strategic Leadership- Demonstrated leadership capabilities is required. Professional- Ability to adapt and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Technical-Working knowledge of Logistics software and SAP within the Consumer Goods/Food Manufacturing environment.

Base Salary: $118,900 - $214,030
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Sales Incentive Bonus (SIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Dividend Program.
