Distribution Coordinator
Responsible for the acceptance, inspection, temporary storage, delivery and return of all incoming supplies and equipment for the institution. Receives materials, supplies and equipment from external sources. Unloads and distributes supplies to appropriate areas. Returns and picks up distributed items. Operates a motor vehicle to transfer goods throughout hospital campus. Job Responsibilities: Receives materials, supplies and equipment from external sources. Counts merchandise received to ensure goods correspond to bill of lading. Documents any missing or damaged merchandise on bill of lading before signing. Separates name packages verses Purchase Order Packages. Links name packages into hand held personal digital assistant for later distribution. Sorts items received for appropriate distribution (storeroom, purchase orders, name packages, etc.). Unloads and distributes supplies to appropriate areas. Separates all perishable/priority items and gives immediate attention; operates a motor vehicle to complete deliveries prior to 2:00 pm each day. Consolidates deliveries of purchase order items, storeroom orders and other relevant shipments by building codes and department areas. Obtains legible customer signatures with a personal digital assistant or other appropriate documentation. Follows appropriate chemical hygiene procedures in the event a spill occurs during the delivery of hazardous materials. Returns/picks-up distributed items and maintains the area. Ensures customer has attached a copy of the Receipt Notification, purchase order picking ticket or a completed form for credit before an item can be picked up and returned. Picks up and returns merchandise with the appropriate documentation attached to the Materials Management Returns Specialist for further processing. Performs regular inspections on departmental vehicles prior to operation. Checks vehicle fluid levels daily (e.g., oil, transmission fluid, etc.). Checks for damages to windows, tires, belts, etc. Maintains daily log of vehicle mileage. Reports vehicle maintenance logs monthly to Distribution Supervisor. Notifies immediate supervisor of any discrepancies found during inspections. Refuels vehicle as required. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution.
