Distribution Designer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a full-time Distribution Designer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Ann Arbor, Michigan office.

Roles and Responsibilities

The position involves drafting, modeling, and design opportunities on distribution projects. The successful candidate will be expected to:

Learn client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations. Understand and follow POWER's standards, procedures, and processes. Follow through with individual design tasks and meet deliverable dates per the project schedule. Collaborate with inter- and intra-departmental teams. Perform some fieldwork, as required. Required Education/Experience A one- or two-year certificate or degree in an applicable technical discipline, or equivalent experience. Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship. Desired Education/Experience A two-year technical certificate or degree, prior utility design experience, or distribution line construction experience. Familiarity with distribution design software, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices. Exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS) such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM, DDS, DM, etc. Strong computer design skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training. Must have strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills.
