Distribution Engineer
Job Title: Distribution EngineerJob Description The person, INC. is seeking Distribution Engineers for a one-year Contract to Direct position. Selected individuals will perform their own fieldwork and have the ability to work fully remote for the remainder of the time. The work involves connecting new homes and commercial businesses to the energy grid or upgrading existing connections. Candidates will start by visiting assigned worksites to take notes, pictures, and measurements, which will be used to create electrical drawings and analyses. Responsibilities include structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop and flicker, coordination of protective devices, and creating a BOM through SAP software. This role involves a combination of fieldwork, design, and electrical analysis to prepare comprehensive electrical work packages for utility company field installation teams. Work Site This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in WALLED LAKE, MI and some days remote. Work Environment Selected candidates will be based out of various cities in the South, East, and West regions. Specific locations include Hamilton, Coldwater, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek/Lansing, Jackson/Adrian/South Monroe, West Branch/Clare, Saginaw/Bay City/Alma, Flint, Traverse City/Benzie/Boyne, Grand Rapids, Greenville/North Kent, Muskegon/Fremont, and Cadillac/Big Rapids/Ludington. Fieldwork constitutes 10%-20% of the job, engineering and development of design packages 60%-80%, and administrative tasks, planning, and customer follow-up 10%. The rest of the work can be done remotely. Candidates must be comfortable in both field and office settings, able to lift 20 pounds, walk up to 2 miles on unpaved surfaces, and provide their own reliable transportation.
