Job Title: Distribution Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Distribution Engineer to provide detailed engineering, design, and planning assessments and recommendations. The ideal candidate will evaluate system operations, develop project scopes for overhead and underground utility systems, and design replacements according to utility standards. The role also involves developing and modifying accurate estimates and engineering drawings using BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and GIS software. You will meet with managers, engineers, and colleagues to review project statuses and determine appropriate communication courses of action. Site visits to assess existing utilities and gather necessary project information are required. Coordination of right-of-way acquisition, planning, and design functions through regular project updates is essential. The position requires working a minimum of 40 hours per week, with possible overtime.

ResponsibilitiesProvide detailed engineering, design, and planning assessments and recommendations.Evaluate system operations and develop project scopes for overhead and underground utility systems.Design overhead and underground replacements per utility standards.Develop and modify accurate estimates and engineering drawings using BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and GIS software.Meet with managers, engineers, and colleagues to review project statuses and determine communication courses of action.Visit sites to assess the condition of existing utilities and collect necessary project information.Coordinate right-of-way acquisition, planning, and design functions through regular project updates.Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with possible overtime.Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned.Essential SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CAD software.Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.0-1.5 years of experience in relevant engineering fields.Previous experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering is preferred.Prior internship or utility experience is preferred.Working knowledge of Distribution Engineering software tools like ARMS, JETS/JETS scheduling tool, DETS, CYME, and DISTGIS/ArcMap.Knowledge of overhead and underground fiber optic and other telecommunication distribution methods.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in writing switching orders.Ability to write business correspondence and communicate effectively.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and local permitting agencies.Strong operational planning skills.Strong interpersonal skills.General computer skills, including proficiency with email and Microsoft Office.Work Environment

The position requires working a minimum of 40 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime. The role involves both office work and field visits to assess existing utilities and gather necessary project information. The work environment includes collaboration with managers, engineers, and colleagues, and requires strong communication skills to coordinate project updates and schedules.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $28.85
