Distribution Engineer
Job Title: Distribution EngineerJob Description We are currently seeking Entry Level Distribution Engineers to join our team in Florida. As a Distribution Engineer, you will support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across Florida. The initial projects will be in collaboration with Duke Energy, with future opportunities from FP&L, TECO, and other utilities. Responsibilities + Perform engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cable. + Move overhead lines to underground. + Reconductor existing distribution lines. + Replace aging poles. + Conduct structural analysis of poles, guying, and cable pulling. + Calculate electric demand and fault currents. + Coordinate protective devices. Essential Skills + Graduation from a 4-year ABET-Accredited College or University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil). + Experience or basic knowledge in the concepts of the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems, utility standards, design software packages, and general construction knowledge. + Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. + Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare/present recommendations. + Ability to interact with individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. + Good written and oral communication skills, with frequent customer interactions. + Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation/initiative, and a desire to learn. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Leadership and/or customer interaction experience in a different industry (retail, restaurant, etc.). + Experience on the Duke system, performing distribution design. + Experience interacting with customers and developers for distribution projects. + Current knowledge of BOUD/Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation. + EIT/Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam. Work Environment Work is performed at our Maitland office. Our team is highly collaborative, especially for Entry Level individuals who go through extensive On-The-Job Training. The office comprises about 40-50 Engineers and Designers, with about 20 active consultants and many others who have converted from consultants. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
