This position falls within the Distribution Department of the organization. The Distribution Engineer will design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 12.5 kV to 34.5 kV, engineer and design work packages associated with new customer construction projects, and ensure compliance with client quality and consistency standards.
Responsibilities
+ Design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 12.5 kV to 34 kV
+ Develop overhead and underground cable/conduit work packages
+ Design complex overhead and underground distribution projects in urban and rural environments in compliance with client's engineering and construction specifications
+ Conduct field engineering of project requirements, identification of conflicting utilities, engineering and design calculations, and programming of protective line equipment
+ Coordinate small design teams to develop budgets, prepare scoping documents, design criteria, and project deliverables
+ Provide clients with engineering assistance during construction, and attend construction meetings, coordination efforts, and community outreach as needed
+ Identify and initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met
+ Interpret codes and regulations and develop standards for construction projects
+ Promote engineering professionalism and standards
+ Develop, recommend, and implement plans by establishing goals, objectives, and requirements that include all scheduling, resources, and information for complex engineering
+ Travel up to 30% of the time to client sites, with varying duration depending on project needs
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD drafting
+ Experience with electric utility distribution design projects
+ Experience in overhead, URD, re-conductoring, and asset replacement projects
+ Experience in underground cable/conduit distribution design work package development
+ Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects in urban and rural environments
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ PE License is desirable but not required
+ Experience working on utility distribution services or electrical engineering within commercial construction
+ Experience working within power distribution
Work Environment
This is a remote work environment with a Monday to Friday schedule (5 8-hour shifts, with flexible start times of 7 AM, 8 AM, or 9 AM). The position includes 3 weeks of PTO and 12 paid holidays.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08/hr.
