Job Description: Distribution Engineer – Permitting Researcher We are currently seeking Engineers to join our power distribution team in Tampa, specifically in our permitting group. This position involves supporting power distribution design and engineering for major power utility clients. You will work closely with our design team, researching permitting requirements for various municipalities in Florida, performing quality assurance on construction plans, and developing permitting packages for some of the largest power utility companies in the US. The role includes theuse of AutoCAD and other proprietary power utility software. Responsibilities: + Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data. + Produce client deliverables such as permit research packages or permit packages using AutoCAD and other software. + Perform quality assurance activities, such as proofing data collection and research reports. + Support the utility relocation team by assisting with engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cable, moving overhead lines to underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging poles. + Conduct engineering calculations, including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Skills + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. + Experience with AutoCAD version 2019 or more recent. + Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate closely with peers, project managers, and field personnel. + Good documentation and communication skills for working with clients and industry professionals. + Strong organizational, time management, analytical, observational, and active listening skills. + Knowledge of other software such as BOUD, MyWorld, SEDS, and CPA is a plus. + Must be able to perform field data collection duties periodically, such as taking measurements in the field. Work Environment Work is performed at our Riverview office, with a 170-person power group in Florida between Maitland and Tampa. The Tampa office is a new 19,000 sqft space equipped with a foosball table, shuffleboard, and a positive leader with an engaged team.
