Distribution Engineering Manager

The successful Engineering Manager candidate will independently perform the following activities: 

Oversee the design and construction work package development of electrical overhead and underground distribution systems (operating from 4kV through 138kV) from design teams.Ensure project and program deliverables meet Leidos and Client quality requirements.Ensure team is monitoring backlog and employee utilization. Address low utilization issues as appropriate.Responsible for:Leadership of program and responsibility to Customer and LeidosMain point of contact with Customer (Supervisors and Directors)Prompt and accurate communication with Leidos CustomersScope, schedule, and budget for programs overseen in conjunction with PMOSupporting Supervisors as needed to ensure efficient, quality and timely delivery of work productCoordinating program needs with Leidos resources, including new hires or personnel turnoverEnsure overall program success through management of:Supervisors and project management personnelLeidos systems and automation toolsTeam organization and rolesEncourage safe work practices while maintaining compliance with project scope, schedule and budget.Ensure program team, QAQC, and Supervisors are adhering to good engineering practice and maintaining efficient scope delivery to CustomersWork collaboratively with client engineering, operations and other departments to ensure work products and services meet expectations and commitments.Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.Work under Director of Engineering to ensure program success for scope, schedule, and budget requirements.Travel to sites as needed to meet Client, Construction Crews, and provide direction to team. Provide technical support to team as needed and guidance for program decisions, including Customer interactions.Lead coordination with outside agencies, Client customers, and 3rd party owners as required. Support on-contract growth with existing Customer (HEI) by maintaining strong professional relationships with client contacts.Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met. Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design. Support new Business Development by leveraging industry contacts.
 

Engineering Manager Basic Qualifications:

Requires BS Degree in an Engineering Discipline and 6+ years of relevant experience with 2+ years in a leadership role OR MS Degree in Engineering and 4+ years of relevant experience with 2+ years in a leadership role; Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing design engineeringProfessional Engineer License in Hawaii or ability to obtain PE License in Hawaii within 6 months of hireKnowledge of NESC Standards requiredExperience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-CalcKnowledge of Client (HEI) Standards preferred. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills.Previous Experience managing/supervising employeesProficiency in Project Management for engineering designAbility to work directly with Clients and Client’s Customers to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget.Willingness to perform both field and office work. Overnight travel may be required (10-20% travel)Ability to work in outdoor environments.Ability to utilize personal vehicle.

Pay Range:Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
