Job Title: Distribution Planning Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Distribution Planning Engineer to join our team. This role involves performing detailed feeder analysis studies, partnering with various departments to develop forward-thinking solutions, evaluating large load projects, and supporting special projects related to Grid Investment and DER integration.

ResponsibilitiesPerform and coordinate feeder analysis studies to ensure adequate capacity and voltage on our feeders.Partner with other departments such as Distribution Engineering, Area Planning, Reliability, and Customer Choice to develop and present forward-thinking solutions for capital projects including feeder additions and reconductors.Evaluate large load projects to assess impacts on the distribution system and assist in determining the method of service.Support special projects aimed at shaping Grid Investment and DER integration into the distribution system.Essential Skills5-7 years of engineering experience in distribution planning, design, maintenance, or operation of the distribution system.Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering.Proficiency in power flow analysis software and distribution planning analysis (e.g., CYME, Synergi).Strong technical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Proven effective interpersonal, analytical, communication, teamwork, negotiation, and presentation skills.Ability to work under deadlines and prioritize work effectively.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings and preparing reports.Additional Skills & QualificationsComputer programming skills, with knowledge of Python, Power BI, Visual Basic, and Microsoft Office applications.Knowledge of new technologies including photovoltaic solar, electric vehicles, and battery storage.Effective at building relationships with cross-functional teams with a strong customer focus.Work Environment

This is a hybrid role requiring regular reporting to regional offices throughout the week, with the flexibility to work remotely when the schedule allows.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr.
