Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Distribution Planner to provide planning and analysis support for the Engineering & Asset Management team of a major power utility. This role involves performing planning and engineering analysis tasks to ensure efficient and reliable power distribution.
ResponsibilitiesCreate, validate, and allocate load for CYME models for self-optimizing grid applications.Propose new automated switching devices to segment circuits according to self-optimizing grid application guides.Perform load flow and short circuit analysis, including normal configuration and contingency analysis.Propose recommendations to resolve circuit load imbalances, overloads, over/under voltages, and VAR needs.Identify equipment or capacity upgrade recommendations based on analysis.Run Planning and Protection meetings with Zone Planners and DPAC engineers to present analysis results.Create and reference relay settings files for proposed automated switching devices.Collect data using standard tools such as PI, FLPR, GE DORA, and AcSELerator.Essential SkillsBachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.Proficient in CYMDIST (CYME) or equivalent power distribution system software such as Synergi.Proficient in MS Word and Excel.5 years of relevant industry experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited program.10 years of relevant industry experience.Coursework in electrical power systems.Proficient in electric distribution system design engineering practices and principles.Knowledge of basic distribution system planning practices, including circuit model validation and analyzing switching contingencies.Strong written and oral communication skills.Python and Microsoft Excel Macros coding experience.Ability to interact with individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.Work EnvironmentThis position offers the flexibility of a remote or hybrid work environment. The team is part of a 170-person power group located in Florida, between Maitland and Tampa. he Tampa office is a newly built 19,000 sq. ft. space equipped with amenities such as a foosball table and shuffleboard, fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere with dedicated leadership and an engaged team.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
