Department Overview

Distribution System Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The department is responsible for electric distribution, including engineering, reliability, customer notifications, restoration, and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

The intern is responsible for supporting Distribution System Operations (DSO) by creating and maintaining dashboards and reporting primarily in Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.

DSO is looking for a talented summer intern to help support the operations of the Distribution Grid by providing analysis, monitoring, and visibility into daily operations.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $19.91 to $35.37.

 

Responsibilities

Building and maintaining dashboards in Power BI and Tableau to provide visibility and monitoring of operations Maintaining Excel files for the control centers Developing and presenting analysis on improving electric reliability

 

The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger distribution grid through the work they will be performing.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, policy, or economics -related field at an accredited University Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

 

Desired:

Experience with data analysis and problem-solving  Power BI and Tableau experience 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA Experience in utilities, energy, or data analytics Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members Strong communication skills, both oral and written Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
