Distribution Technician (CS II)

The Distribution Technician is an integral part of the Distribution and Supply Chain team. Working primarily out of the Mail Room area, provides pick up and distribution of mail, laboratory supplies, Central Service trays, medical supplies, x-rays, pharmacy, linen, dietary items, and Print Shop jobs to identified off-site locations. The Distribution Technician checks for items to pick up at each site after deliveries. They return laboratory specimens to the Lab, soiled linen to Laundry, mail for re-distribution, Central Sterile trays to Central Sterile and money to ambulatory sites or Cashier. There are eight routes with seven runs Monday to Friday and one on Saturday.

Other duties include to receive and sort >4000 pieces of mail. Requires quick responses to customers and attention to detail to be able to adjust schedule to include ad hoc stops with short notice, adjust routes to accommodate critical stat pharmacy deliveries, knowledge of multiple customers, multiple sites, delivery locations at the same site. Transports while observing policy and procedures related to money bags. In addition to managing multiple deliveries, and multiple pick–ups, Supply Chain Courier must be aware of, and observe various regulatory requirements related to lab specimen “chain of custody” requirements, carrying dry ice for pharmacy meds, and to be added lab specimens requiring certain temperatures, regulations regarding clean and dirty linen transportation separation and identification. They carry spill kits to deploy in case of a laboratory spill. Trained as regards Universal Precautions related to the handling of clean and dirty linen and labs with any biohazard

Drives assigned routes to pick up product and deliver to locations on the route.Receives, sorts, posts and delivers over 4,000 pieces of mail, including: incoming-outgoing interdepartmental
mail, memos, and flyers, outgoing mail, certified mail (with obtained signatures), insured mail, priority mail,
according to an established route. Thorough knowledge of the Pitney Bowes mailing equipment required.According to Route schedule and timing, the Courier does rounds of the departments picking up items for
transportation; Pharmacy (Noting any Stat Deliveries), Central Sterile, Storeroom, Laundry for Linen, LabSupplies, Money Bags, X-Rays, Dietary, Print Shop, and mail and proceeds to load deliveries and separate by
locations on the route.Complete daily safety checklist per scheduled vehicle route and Daily fueling of each designated courier
vehicleManages the correct use of the Pitney Bowes Mail Equipment. Troubleshoot Minor mail machine repairs as
needed and contacts company for larger service repair.Performs STAT requests when possible, logging the request as to time, location, reason for the request, etc.Drives carefully and safely under adverse conditions, e.g. lack of appropriate parking for at sites for items being
delivered.Deals diplomatically with multiple, diverse customers and varying expectation levels, with positive outcomes.Qualifications - External

Education/Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Skills/Abilities:

Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential materialsExcellent customer service skillsExcellent Interpersonal SkillsAbility to daily shift products, product load locations and customers.Basic Computer SkillsAbility to Learn and Handle Mail EquipmentAbility to multi-functionGood Driving SkillsAbility to lift and load up to 50 lbs.

Salary Range

The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is$17.25 to 22.50per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
