We are looking for a Distribution Technician III to join our team!

Important Note: This role is considered safety sensitive, and as such, you may be required to undergo various background screenings. This may include but is not limited to a driving record abstract, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing.

What You Will Do:

Operates and maintains high pressure (HP) pipelines and facilities. Monitors one-call tickets, and contacts contractors about proximity to HP lines. Performs standby excavation monitoring at HP crossings when contractors are working near HP pipelines. Works with contractors, developers, property owners, state officials, local officials, DOT, and others regarding HP line locations, conflicts, encroachments, relocations, and other issues. Under general supervision, performs operations, inspections, and maintenance (leak repair, replacement) on natural gas facilities. Assist and complete HP pipeline shutdown and developing procedures. Perform line marking, pipeline patrols, initiates class location studies, etc. Maintains all equipment assigned (vehicle and operations equipment). Performs pipeline emergency response actions, coordinating with other responding employees or local emergency officials. Serves as inspector or lead inspector on high-pressure jobs. Directs and provides inspection for contractor supporting integrity management (IM) projects, inline inspections, assessment digs, etc. Prepares all records of field activities pertaining to construction or integrity management related project documentation for integrity assessments, anomaly sizing, field activity reports, as built fabrication, welding, strength testing, NDE records, and site construction. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Performs inspection activities for construction of natural gas facilities. May coordinate with contractor crews to complete assigned responsibilities.

Who You Are:

At least 2 years of experience as a Distribution Technician I or equivalent related experience.

High School Diploma or GED required

Knowledge of high-pressure, construction, maintenance procedures and policies, and distribution system in assigned area.

Knowledge of construction equipment operations and safety practices and procedures.

Knowledge of pipe diameters, thickness, and grades in relation to one another.

Knowledge of company emergency plan and safety policies.

Knowledge of basic math including decimals and fractions.

Knowledge of city, county, state and federal codes, laws, company standard practices and safety procedures relating to gas installation and usage.

Basic knowledge of 192 code for line marking, patrols, class locations, etc.

Ability to pass required Operator Qualification requirements for the covered tasks performed.

Ability to operate pipe locating equipment including the ability to carry out a HP locate.

Ability to use and understand the ultrasound (UT) equipment and operation.

Ability to write, perform, and understand basic shut-down schedules, work from construction design drawings, and interpret valve books.

Ability to work with design engineering on facility configurations.

Ability to read company distribution maps.

Ability to work independently handle complaints and problems, with minimal supervision.

Ability to see objects at close range, to determine the distance and relationship between objects, and to match and discriminate between colors.

Ability to interact with others, to communicate clear instructions, and to evaluate results.

Ability to recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions.

Ability to respond to emergency conditions, which may include changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, operating jacks, performing minor maintenance, and operating two-way radios.

Ability to climb and descend a ladder to inspect or reach facilities in trenches or facilities with limited ingress and egress.

Ability to recognize when DOT class location study is needed.

Ability to manage required records.
