District Director - Ventura County
Overview The District Director is responsible for multi-store management and leadership development of our store leaders in their designated district. This position will have oversight for 7-12 stores aligned to their geography and will report to the Regional Vice President. The District Director is an integral part of the Sprouts leadership team and is responsible for the success of our team members and store profitability. This district role is responsible for driving store sales, team member engagement, and robust customer advocacy through strong, dynamic leadership to create success in people, processes, partners, and performance. Overview of Responsibilities People Positively shape the culture in the district by modeling the leadership behaviors aligned to Sprouts values. Develop the Store teams within the region to deliver an exceptional customer experience by motivating and engaging our team members. Lead with courtesy, respect, integrity, and care. Train, coach, and develop store leadership and department managers in financial acumen, merchandising practices, shrink management, company platforms, and leadership. Consistently model Sprouts values and leadership behaviors. Provide development feedback and coaching to Store Leadership teams. Support Sprouts' focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure a sense of belonging across the organization. Walk stores regularly with store teams and review KPIs to identify obstacles, concerns, and opportunities for improvement; coach the leadership team to take actions and achieve operational goals. Work closely with store leadership to resolve conflict and lead through difficult conversations, utilizing your Human Resources Business Partner for input, advice, and guidance. Build talent pipeline, export, and promote talent for the success of the organization and new store growth. Manage talent bench strength and identify opportunities to promote and export talent for continued development. Retain and reward your team through active engagement, appreciation, recognition, and coaching. Communicate and cascade directives to teams through store huddles, calls, and one on one conversations. Ensure proper staffing at each store, including selection, hiring, retention, and promotion of Store Managers in partnership with the Regional Vice President. Ensure retention and turnover goals are achieved within stores and throughout assigned district. Sponsor development programs such as Assistant Store Manager development and Store Manager Certification. Conduct training and lead leadership development efforts in new stores during pre-opening weeks. Process Responsible for the success and profitability of stores within the district.Provide strategic direction and input to the forecasting and budgeting process. Analyze the profit and loss report, margin report, and other financial measures. Implement plans to meet weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goals. Drive and validate the deployment of merchandising directives in each department. Guide merchandising decisions and execution, with an eye for district appropriate modifications; act as a steward of the Sprouts' brand. Approach directives with nimbleness and adaptability and communicate the Sprouts brand through merchandising and displays. Provide feedback on marketing efforts in the district to drive traffic and build basket size. Partners Establish a partnership with the merchant team to support the local program. Establish a partnership with the marketing team to support promotional activity in the district. Partner with the Facilities team to ensure operational and safe conditions throughout the district. Partner with the legal and business protection team to protect our team members, customers, and the company through compliance with safety and food safety regulations. Maintain compliance with all safety and food safety recommendations and requirements, as measured through Ecolab and PCR audits. Oversee safety, security, and loss prevention activities, identifying and addressing trends within the region. Partner with Business Risk and Safety team to resolve concerns. Ensure region compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding health, sanitation, and food safety. Review escalated Loss Prevention matters and investigations, ensuring compliance and consistency. Oversee execution and response of food safety compliance and resolution of compliance concerns. Performance Develop and oversee programs to exceed sales goals, reduce shrink, maintain proper inventory levels, and cash management. Exceed customer expectations through 8+ store condition with well stocked inventory Listen to customer feedback and act with urgency to resolve customer concerns Create solutions that work for our customers Manage shrink across the district and coach teams when concerns arise; work closely with merchandising and supply chain for ordering issues. Coordinate with store locations regarding product overstock. Support the opening of new stores including involvement with hiring events, training, and support of construction and facilities. Ensure proper pricing and inventory levels throughout the district. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field experience 5+ years of store management experience with multiple location oversight; or an acceptable combination of education and experience Experience performing cost-benefit analysis. Must have an excellent working knowledge of perishable and non-perishable practices in a grocery retail environment. Must be able to analyze financial statements; requires basic math skills to calculate discounts, gross margins, markups, percentages, and volume. Basic knowledge of human resources practices such as recruiting, interviewing, employee relations, various employment laws, supervising, employee motivation techniques and discipline methods. Must be able to operate a variety of grocery store equipment safely and effectively such as: electrical and manual pallet jacks, scan guns, baler, meat-slicers, mixers, ovens, box cutters, alarm systems, floor buffers, etc. Key Competencies for Success Customer Service Decision Making Communication Leadership Capabilities Business Acumen Coaching and Development Interpersonal Sensitivity Pay range The pay range for this position is $149,563.00 - $239,301.00 / year.
