Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by Cognia. Georgia Connections Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Position Overview:
Working from the Duluth Office, the District Onboarding & Technology Program Coordinator will be key in organizing and managing new teacher orientation, overseeing mentoring programs, and providing ongoing support to educators throughout the year. Additionally, this position will collaborate closely with the leadership team to roll out and implement instructional technology initiatives, ensuring staff are effectively trained and equipped to use new technology tools in a virtual setting. All GACA staff must be able to participate in monthly in-person activities, including but not limited to:
School and department meetings, Student engagement opportunities, Required training/development, School-level events, such as state testing and graduation.This is a 12-month, full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
New Teacher Orientation & Onboarding:○ Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive new teacher orientation sessions prior to pre-planning, ensuring new educators are prepared for success.
○ Familiarize new hires with school policies, instructional technology tools, platforms, and best practices for virtual teaching.
○ Develop and maintain resources for onboarding, ensuring content is clear, accessible, and relevant to the needs of new educators.
Mentorship Program Management:○ Oversee and manage the teacher mentorship program, matching new educators with experienced mentors to provide ongoing support throughout the school year. ○ Organize regular check-ins between mentors and mentees, fostering professional growth and addressing challenges faced by new teachers.
○ Track the progress of mentorship pairs, offering guidance and adjusting support strategies as needed.
Instructional Technology Integration & Support:○ Collaborate with the leadership team to roll out and implement new instructional technologies, ensuring staff adoption and successful integration.
○ Develop and deliver professional development workshops and training sessions focused on the effective use of instructional technology, including learning management systems, SISPs, digital content creation tools, and more.
○ Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for teachers and staff, helping them utilize instructional technology to enhance their teaching practices.
○ Create a library of resources, tutorials, and FAQs to assist educators in using technology tools effectively.
○ Provide office hours for teaching support
Professional Development & Training:○ Plan and execute professional development opportunities throughout the year, focusing on both technology integration and effective instructional practices. ○ Develop customized training sessions based on educator needs and the school's strategic goals, ensuring teachers feel confident in utilizing new and existing tools. ○ Assess the effectiveness of training sessions and adjust future offerings based on feedback and observed outcomes.
Collaboration with Leadership Team:○ Work closely with school leadership to assess technology needs, identify potential barriers, and implement solutions for effective technology use.
○ Assist in the strategic planning and implementation of technology initiatives that align with the school's mission and vision.
○ Provide regular updates on the progress of onboarding, professional development, mentorship, and technology adoption efforts.
Data Analysis and Feedback:○ Analyze data related to educator performance, student outcomes, and impact on professional development.
○ Observe, supervise, and evaluate staff, as assigned, in accordance with district policies including TKES
○ Offer constructive feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices.
Other Duties as Assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification and GAPSC educational leadership certification or currently enrolled in a leadership program. Must have received a rating of Effective or Highly Effective in the most recent performance reviews. Must have no ethics violations Previous experience in educational leadership (preferred)Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a virtual school setting or familiarity with online education practices. Familiarity with specific instructional programs or platforms used by Georgia Connections Academy. Experience designing and delivering professional development for educators. Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly, with the capacity to teach others. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for working collaboratively across teams and with diverse groups of educators. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
