Job Summary

Battelle’s Ground Systems division is seeking an  Operations Manager to support our vehicle production work. Battelle’s expertly engineered vehicles provide superior on and off-road performance for military, security, and other government needs. With more than 20 years of experience, Battelle is equipped with a realistic understanding of field challenges and requirements for mission success. 

 

This role is dedicated to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ground systems production and engineering work. The Operations Manager helps in management of staff and the work to ensure our vehicles meet the highest standards of performance and quality. 
 

Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the Ground Systems division, including material planning and handling, production, and vehicle scheduling to ensure timely delivery to clients. Oversee the entire production lifecycle, from material planning and ordering to final client delivery, ensuring all products are built to meet Battelle’s rigorous quality standards. Coordinate with Production Supervisors and Leads, project managers and engineering teams to align production schedules with client requirements and resource availability. Work with the team on continuous improvement processes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency. Monitor production metrics and performance indicators, adjusting processes and resources as necessary to meet production targets and quality benchmarks. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and high performance; Manages staff availability for project work and analyzes staff skill mix relative to strategic business operations.Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations and effective communication. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards in all aspects of operations and production. Prepare and manage the Facility budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost-efficiency. Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities to staff, enhancing skills and career progression within the Ground Systems Operational Team.
 Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment related to vehicle production. Proven track record of managing complex production schedules.Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment. In-depth knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proficiency in project management software and tools.This position oversees operation on two shifts. Candidates must be willing and flexible to work any assigned shifts based on mission requirements. Shift assignments are not selectable.
