Division Pharmacy Manager Maine

To help pharmacy managers and staff pharmacists operate their pharmacies in the most profitable manner possible. To ensure that company standards regarding customer service, pharmacy standards, expense control, overall profits and employee relations are maintained in all pharmacies, consistent with planned goals.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Workforce Development – trains, directs, appraises, motivates, recognizes and retains pharmacy managers/pharmacists; works with the Recruiting Department to promote and develop university recruitment, field recruitment and support of corporate diversity initiatives; works with the Education Department for the placement, orientation, training and development of summer interns, grad interns, technicians, pharmacists and pharmacy managers; communication and coordination with store, market, district, and divisional operations.

 

Sales and Volume – works with Vice President Pharmacy Operations in development of pharmacy and regional budgets; directs and manages profitable sales and prescription volume increases in conjunction with store, market, district and divisional teams; Clinical Programs, Pharmacy Marketing Department, Pricing Department and Managed Care; directs and manages competitor analysis and the pursuit of pharmacy buyouts.

 

Gross Margin – maximizes gross margin opportunity through pricing, market positioning and third party, directs training and focus on generic utilization, warehouse utilization and third party processing, correction and collection.

 

Expense Control – maximizes profitability through balanced control of labor hours and direct, indirect and undistributed payroll dollars, third party bad debt, inventory investment to maximize in stock and minimize over-stock, systems, marketing and supplies expense.

 

Methods and Procedures – develops, implements and enforces procedures to ensure uniformity and focus on high patient service levels (PPCS), standards of cleanliness (DAS), organization, productivity, scheduling techniques and work flow; communication with pharmacy teams and store management on store written communication in addition to communication with market, district and divisional operations groups in regularly scheduled meetings.

 

Regulatory Compliance – stays abreast of changes within the profession of pharmacy, state and federal regulations and ensures compliance within all assigned pharmacy locations.  Encourages the professional involvement of their pharmacy teams.

Scope

Number of Associates Supervised:     Directly: 20 - 35   Indirectly: 30 - 125

Financial scope: responsible for 20 – 40 pharmacy locations and their financial results

Job Requirements

Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy with a valid Pharmacist license, with necessary higher continuing education to maintain Pharmacy license required. A minimum of 5 years experience as a Pharmacy Manager required.  Possess the ability to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results. Possess good communications skills, both oral and written.  Deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone. Requires analytical ability and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.  Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.

Physical Environment

Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office/store environment.  Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday. Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties. Travel required.
