Responsibilities

Evaluate product lines, manages vendor relationships, negotiates pricing, terms of purchase, promotional support, purchase rebates and discounts, monitors region/location performance, and assists, or is directly involved in purchasing commodity wood products in support of location product managers. Advises and guides branches on market conditions, forecasting, inventory management, margin improvement, and coordinates block buys to leverage scale. Maintain Division SKU file on assigned product lines. Assist with training of Location Product Managers, supports margin improvement goals, turns, GMROI targets, and baseline measurements. Responsible for expanding vendor relationships and growing location sales. Primary focus will be based around knowledge on Western Species KD & Green, Solid & FJ Studs.

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications: College Degree or equivalent work experience in related job function. Working conditions are an office environment with minimal physical exertion.   

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer advanced knowledge of product, production and industry, five (5) years experience in commodity wood products purchasing or lumber-related purchasing and/or sales or general line product management in the building materials industry. BMD location experience a plus.
