POSITION SUMMARY
The Division Safety Director provides safety leadership direction to field supervision, management, and professional personnel in the organization. The incumbent will ensure all safety requirements are met in the field and all facilities in their division by managing and coordinating all division safety matters and personnel.
What you’ll do:
Conducts safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements. Develops, implements and maintains employee safety training programs and records; and develops, updates, and manages workplace safety programs, procedures, and policies. Develops and directs department personnel, craft/field personnel and project managers and superintendents when planning certain specialized activities, such as critical crane lifts or confined space entries. Thoroughly coordinates the investigation of all accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace and verifies completeness of the necessary documentation. Review the various jobsites safety programs to ensure proper compliance and to detect deficiencies and monitor corrective actions. Act as the principal safety resource for the division and also determine appropriate safety equipment and supplies for various jobsites.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, procedures and practical application governing Safety in the workplace. Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously meeting established deadlines. Have a coach/resource approach to promote a successful safety project. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures is essential. Strong analytical skills.
What you bring to the table:
BA Degree in Safety, Health or related discipline. Certifications in CPR and First Aid. OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training, preferred. OSHA 500 certification, preferred. CHST, CSP, or ASP certification.
