Salary and Grade: $65,000.00 per year; Exempt; Grade 13

Position Overview:            

The Salvation Army Eastern Pennsylvania & Delaware Division is seeking a full-time Divisional Grants Manager to join its Community Relations & Development Department. The Divisional Grants Manager is primarily responsible for advancing the mission of The Salvation Army by overseeing the grants process related to charitable foundations. Additional responsibilities include managing United Way applications and conducting field reviews. The role involves a collaborative approach to maintaining and increasing current levels of giving from these sectors, with a focus on both unrestricted general funding and restricted support for special projects. This objective is pursued through strategic planning, research, relationship building, grant proposal development, consultation, and effective stewardship.

Responsibilities

Description of Position: 

 

Primary expectations of this role include:

Planning – Develop and manage a process which identifies the needs of The Salvation Army and matches those needs to available foundation funding opportunities. This involves prioritization programmatic needs in relation to foundation opportunities.Research – Identify charitable foundations whose objectives are compatible with the mission of The Salvation Army.Relationship Building – Develop systematic methods to cultivate relationships with Salvation Army Officers, staff of foundations, and United Way agencies.Grant Proposal Development – Oversee a Grants Calendar and the submission of proposals to charitable foundations compatible with the mission of The Salvation Army.Consultation and Technical Assistance – Help to enhance the knowledge of Corps Officers and Program Directors in the areas of proposal writing, project start up, and report preparation.Field Review – Oversee the review of all grants submitted to external funders before requests are submitted into the Contracts Database.Report Preparation and Stewardship– Help coordinate the completion of progress and financial reports associated with foundation grants. United Way Relationship, proposal, reporting – Play a role in developing programmatic and budgetary information and writing/editing of the proposal to various United Way locations. Management Information Reporting - Provide periodic reports on the status of work, particularly the status of current projects and grant applications, completing information for the Annual Command Review and for ensuring that relevant information concerning grants is entered into the Donor Database.Track, review and update foundations caseload in Salesforce.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, with relevant development experience and administration.Must be committed to and embrace the mission of The Salvation Army and must have a passion for the role of Development in furthering that mission.Familiarity with the specific disciplines within development (i.e. major gifts, planned giving, direct marketing, corporate and foundation giving, capital campaigns, board development, etc.).Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to relate to professionals and leaders in the community as well as to key stakeholders in The Salvation Army.Must demonstrate good judgement, leadership characteristics and work well as part of a team. Able to work effectively and in harmony with officers, staff, and volunteers.Must have a valid ID and be willing to travel as needed, flexible on scheduling (including attendance at early morning, evening or weekend meetings/events).Adherence to the AFP Code of Ethics.Adherence to The Salvation Army's Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
