Divisional Lead/Reader Physiotherapy - Education - Higher Education & Universities

The Division Lead supports the Head of Department to meet his or her responsibilities to the College for the development, delivery and quality of the educational and research provision in the Division.

Main duties of the role:

Within the Division, the Division Lead will, in particular, support the Head of Department in his/her responsibilities to:

lead the delivery, and enhancement over time, of the educational provision and research of the Department. develop and implement strategies which will deliver a vibrant research culture across the College. ensure that the Department discharges its responsibilities to the College and University for the effective delivery of teaching, for the quality of educational opportunities, for academic standards, for the overall student experience, and for the welfare support offered by the Department to its students; ensure that the Department also discharges its responsibilities for monitoring of, and timely reporting on, these matters to the College and University.  foster a culture of academic excellence in teaching and research which provides an outstanding student experience within the College. ensure that the Department develops a strong and outward-looking subject based culture. ensure that there is effective collaboration between the Divisions (if any) of the Department, and that the Department contributes effectively to collaborative activities within the College, with the Institutes and across the University.

Where agreed with the Vice Provost & Dean of College and relevant Head of Department, the Division Lead may line manage the Division’s academic staff and hold responsibility for academic workload allocation, academic staff development, PDR and recommendations for promotion for the Division’s academic staff.

The Division Lead shall be the primary point of consultation for the Head of Department with the Division in relation to the development of departmental strategies, plans and other matters relating to the performance and future development of the Division.

The Division Lead shall be a member of the Department Management Board, and, as appropriate, other key committees or networks, so that policy or practice identified and agreed within those committees is communicated to the Division for implementation.  The Division Lead shall be a member of the Student Experience Committee(s) and Board(s) of Studies of the Division and shall normally be asked to chair Boards of Studies by the College Education Committee and to co-chair Student Experience Committees.

The Division Lead shall ensure that all HR, Finance, Freedom of Information, Records Management, Health and Safety and all other policies are adhered to in relation to his or her activities.
