DME Team Lead Full Time

POSITION GOAL

Management of DME process, inventory and budgets. Responsible to assist in the hiring and training of all staff associated with DME. Building and maintaining effective relationships and coordination of the DME program. Assist Physicians with patient care for casting and DME.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides oversight for the continued development, direction and coordination of DME staff and DME policies and procedures. Responsible for reviewing assigned location’s DME workflow and processes to ensure billing and documentation requirements are met on a daily basis, i.e. DME orders, procedure documentation, signed forms. etc. Responsible for maintaining departmental budgets, reporting on variances in said budget and overall oversight of assigned locations/depts. Responsible for maintaining DME regulatory guidelines and standards. Manages DME and all aspects of DME inventory and casting, including but not limited to: supply ordering, receiving, stocking, payment of supplier invoices, reviewing and facilitating all requests for new product, reporting product abnormalities, ensuring staff are appropriately trained and scheduled to meet all patient needs in all locations. Assists staff and physicians in problem solving in regards to type of brace and fitting that best suits the patient and their specific needs. Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the physicians, staff, corporate staff, and all DME supplier representatives. Assists in the hiring, training and oversight of Ortho and DME technicians, to include timecard approvals. Assists the billing department on streamlining all aspects of DME billing of all insurance carriers and patients. Continually markets and educates physicians and staff on all new and current DME products. Provide physicians with DME comparable items as needed Reports to senior clinic management, to include the DME Systems Director as needed. Remove and apply casts, both fiberglass and plaster and other appliances as needed. Assist in fracture reductions and minor surgical procedures as well as remove sutures, staples and apply bandages. Knowledge of fracture care coding along with CPT and ICD-10 codes. Obtains authorizations for custom braces and all DME prescribed for worker's compensation patients. Responsible for patient care activities such as determining proper DME sizing and fitting. Escorts patients from waiting area to cast room for analysis of care as needed. Assists with working the DME hold buckets in workflow dashboard in Athena daily.

Experience:

Required:

One-year in an Orthopaedic clinical setting. Two years of medical office experience

Preferred:

5 years of medical office experience Previous experience in DME

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Required:

Must be able to work independently and be motivated, self-driven with a proven history of success. Must be a strong team player.  Must be able to build relationships and be highly organized with effective presentation skills. Must be able to communicate effectively (both oral and written). Must have a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
