Dock Material Handler
**Job Title: Dock Material Handler** **Job Description** The Dock Material Handler Associate is responsible for loading and unloading trucks and completing all related paperwork in a correct and timely manner. This position also maintains inventory locations and, when time permits, assists production in operating machines and running systems. The work involves 60% sitting, 30% standing-walking, and 10% sweeping-cleaning. **Responsibilities** + Read, understand, and follow the Bill of Lading (BOL) and/or Receiving Ledger. + Unload trucks safely and efficiently and move received material to the proper location. + Load trucks safely and efficiently while maintaining proper distribution of material inside the truck. + Safely operate a forklift and become a certified operator. + Communicate with truck drivers regarding their loads and provide them with dock assignments. + Complete receiving tags for each applicable load. + Process shipping & receiving paperwork. + Account for shipping tags by verifying them to the Packing List. + Maintain the integrity and cleanliness of the general warehouse and individual rows. + Weigh material properly and compute weights by calculating gross, tare, and net weights. + Ensure lids are clean and boxes are stable and properly labeled when shipping. + Keep the work area clean and organized throughout the shift. + Complete sample requests. + Assist with training new associates. + Keep the outside and inside dock area clean and maintain the cleanliness of the parking lot. + Organize and maintain the storage area of empty boxes, lids, and skids. + Document all errors or problems associated with received loads. + Assist production with machine and/or system operation when time permits. + Participate in shift meetings and training sessions. + Become certified and use aerial lift and floor machine as needed. **Essential Skills** + Experience in a manufacturing environment. + Basic math skills. + Experience with sit down forklift, loading trucks, and unloading. + Machine operation skills. + Experience in production and general labor. + Material handling experience. + Experience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, and extrusion machine operation. + Skills in loading, wrapping, palletizing, shipping & receiving, and warehouse operations. + Experience using RF scanner. + Must have good handwriting for record-keeping. + Ability to stand for the duration of the shift outside of breaks. + Ability to lift up to 65 lbs, not repetitively. + Comfortable with heights and able to work on an aerial lift (25 feet with harness). + Must have steel-toed or composite-toed shoes. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Capacity for making mathematical computations with adding, subtracting, and calculating percentages. + Experience operating a sit down forklift inside semi-trailers for loading and unloading trucks. **Why Work Here?** The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, prescription drugs, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), life and AD&D, disability, employee assistance program (EAP), voluntary benefits, and valuable extras. The systems are large machines, some two stories high. The plant has some dust and noise, so hearing and eye protection is required. Employees must be willing to climb stairs or use an aerial lift to troubleshoot and fix jams. The facility can get hot in the summer and is comfortable but cool in the winter. Dock workers will spend most of their time on the outer wall of the facility, loading and unloading trucks. Day Shift is from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Night Shift is from 11:30 pm to 8:00 am, Sunday night to Thursday night. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
