Dock to Drivers are actively pursuing a Driver position with Dayton Freight Lines via the Company’s internal Dock to Driver program.
Ensure preparation of trailer for loading/unloading by visual inspection to include; proper chocking of unit at dock, cargo area swept clean of all debris, nails, blocking; visually check for holes in roof, floor and sides of trailer and rear door sealsTimely communicate any known defects to Operations Supervisor on dutyDemonstrate ability to properly load/unload various freight commodities in a productive, safe, and claim-free mannerKnowledgeable in the use of all assigned freight handling equipment, as well as for the proper return of equipment to designated storage and/or containment areasMaintain current forklift qualifications certificate and must retain document with him/her at all timesDemonstrate ability to accurately read and understand maps, road signs, shipping papers,hazardous materials markings and labeling information, as well as to determine and properly affix correct placards to vehicleAvailable to work irregular work schedules and for alternating work shifts and/or assignmentsAble to effectively interact and converse with customers and company personnelResponsible for proper bill control process to include; writing the PRO Number, total piece count, total weight, checker initials, and any OS&D notations on the front side of the Dayton Freight Lines, Inc. trailer manifestEnsure that no freight is loaded without a supporting document in the form of a Freight Bill, Working Copy Freight Bill, Bill of Lading, or Free Astray Qualifications No DUI, Citation/Conviction for Reckless Operation in the past 3 yearsLess than 2 moving violations in the past 3 yearsBasic math skillsFluent in EnglishAble to pass a drug screen Benefits Stable and growing organizationCompetitive weekly payQuick advancementQuality HoursProfessional, positive and people-centered work environmentModern facilitiesClean, late model equipmentComprehensive benefits package: Health, Dental, Vision, AD&D, 401(k), etc.Paid holidays (8); paid vacation and personal days
In addition to performing the principal duties listed above, Dock to Drivers must meet the minimum qualifications outlined in the applicable Dock to Driver program path and complete the Dock to Driver screening process, including but not limited to: MVR, Background Check, etc.
