Position Title: Quality Assurance Lead

Reports To: Quality Assurance & ISO Manager

 

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the development and review, of Quality Management System policies, procedures, plans, and work instructions. Oversees regulatory approval of weld procedures, non-destructive tests, calibration procedures and product testing methods. Reports to management any deficiencies and proposes corrective actions. Attends formal program reviews and provides input on overall quality as determined by product test results. The successful candidate will support the working men and women on our waterfront by guiding and improving performance, and maintaining quality in the products produced by Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.

 

Detailed Description:

Develop, document and maintain records of all Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) as required by regulatory bodies. Manage the calibrated equipment program and all measurement and test equipment. Manage and direct duties of Quality Assurance Coordinator(s). Work in unison with the FBS Quality Department to ensure alignment across all areas of the yard. Be a resource as needed to help improve the quality of products produced throughout FBS. Train and become an ISO Internal Auditor and be available to participate in internal audits as needed. Liaison for interfacing with our Government Products Customers & Representatives. Responsible for all scheduled inspections and testing needs with all applicable regulatory bodies to ensure product compliance. Responsible for all quality inspections and documentation of outsourced work. Responsible for the on-boarding of new employees into production. Performs process audits and reports findings. Responsible for the overall quality of all Government Operation products. Ensure all trainings meet all requirements set forth by any applicable regulatory body. Ensure training is taking place throughout the entirety of the projects for all employees. Identify when retraining is necessary by the welder defect rate, recommendations by their supervisor and/or leader, and the QA Department. Maintain documentation of the welder defect metrics. Assist with the management of non-conformance and corrective action programs. Manage the Stop-Work process and ensure the process is used accurately and effectively. Assist HR and QA to develop a comprehensive training program which will aid in the workforce development of production employees. Aid in the ongoing employee development in hull construction and welding. Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies. Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree in related field or 5 years or more of related work experience Level ASNT II NDT/NDE Certification Must have initiative, strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks Must have the ability to work in a team environment and a cross-departmental role Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer, and strong communication skills Must have strong organizational and time management skills Must consistently maintain a professional demeanor Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality Knowledgeable in NDT methods and willingness to complete ASNT VT II Certification Quality Control and Inspection experience Highly accountable

 

Desired Qualifications:

Prior shipyard experience a plus Previous DoD, ITAR Quality related experience Blue Print Reading experience Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) CWI or CWS Certification
