We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Central Utility Plant Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of various systems within the central utility plant. This includes boilers, chillers, water softeners, reverse osmosis units, cooling towers, condensers, steam piping, chilled water piping, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and other associated equipment. The Central Utility Plant Operator will ensure the continuous and efficient operation of all utility systems and perform basic mechanical maintenance to support plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operation and Monitoring of Systems:

Operate and monitor boilers, chillers, water softeners, reverse osmosis units, cooling towers, condensers, and related equipment.Adjust controls to maintain optimal system performance and resolve issues proactively.Ensure steam and chilled water systems are functioning effectively to support facility needs.

2. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of all plant systems.Conduct mechanical maintenance on steam and chilled water piping, cooling towers, condensers, and related components.Repair and replace parts on boilers, pumps, and HVAC equipment as needed.

3. VFD Operation and Maintenance:

Operate and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) that control motor speeds in pumps, fans, and other equipment.Diagnose and troubleshoot VFD-related issues and coordinate repairs.

4. Water Treatment:

Ensure water treatment systems, including water softeners and reverse osmosis units, are operating properly to maintain the quality of water used within the plant.Monitor and adjust chemical treatments as needed to ensure water meets quality standards.

5. Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in accordance with plant safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.Maintain awareness of environmental, health, and safety regulations regarding plant operations.

6. Record Keeping and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of system performance, maintenance activities, and repairs.Report any operational issues, malfunctions, or concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.

7. Emergency Response:

Respond to emergency situations and system malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to restore operations.

8. Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with other maintenance personnel and departments to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime.Participate in team meetings and provide input on operational improvements or efficiency gains.

Qualifications:

U.S. Military experience as an E4 or above  (Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force, National Guard, Reserves) High school diploma or state-recognized GED 2-5 years of experience in operating and maintaining central utility systems, including boilers, chillers, water softeners, reverse osmosis units, cooling towers, and condensers.Knowledge of HVAC systems, steam systems, and chilled water systems is essential.Familiarity with VFDs, piping systems, and electrical controls.Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.OSHA certifications or equivalent safety training is a plus.Ability to meet local or state safety requirements within 1 year Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers  

Interpersonal Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing Must be at least 21 years of age to participate in the required Siemens vehicle plan Good verbal and written communication skills in English 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and move heavy equipment and tools. Ability to work in a variety of circumstances including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, and working in ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings. Work is generally performed in customer locations in a local area and may include time spent on construction sites. These sites may have a moderate noise level and regular distractions. Must be able to perform movements such as reaching, climbing, standing, and bending.
