Job Description
 

Gilead’s G&A IT organization is looking for a Domain Architect to support Gilead’s General & Administration functions technology solutions roadmap. These functions include Finance, Procurement, Legal, Corporate Affairs, and Human Resources.

The G&A Solution Architect will work with and advise our business stakeholders, Global Capability Leads, Enterprise Architecture, IT Security, IT Enterprise Platform Team, Data & Analytics, and IT implementation teams to further develop and prioritize each G&A functions’ technology roadmap and lead the resulting architecture and design of the technology solutions to drive business outcomes.

This role is expected to drive innovation by advising IT and the business stakeholders on current and emerging business and technology trends, conducting future thinking workshops, driving ideas to implementable solutions in alignment with enterprise standards, advocate and pilot “the Art of the Possible' with existing and emerging technologies and trends.

Responsibilities include understanding business requirements and designing well architected technology solutions that are secure, scalable, stable and meet customer expectations on business outcomes and user experience.

The solution architect needs to develop a strong understanding of Gilead’s multiple G&A business domains and their associated technology stacks.

The role also includes mentoring and providing direction to less-experienced staff on projects and acts as an advisor to the business. It is expected that this person with become the expert in their assigned business functions, including their business processes and tools utilized.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

Develop strong understanding of G&A business processes and associated technology solutions.

Work closely with each G&A Global Capability Leads and business leads to continuously refresh each business domain’s capability maturity model and associated 3-year technology roadmap factoring in an understanding of future directions of each business area as well as changes in the technology landscape.

Design Technology solutions to support business outcomes

- Engage with the IT global capability leads, business stakeholders and implementation teams to design solutions aligned with IT standards

- Drive evaluation of new technologies

- Work with Enterprise and Technical Architects on build versus buy decisions

- Own the business capability assessments and build future state roadmaps

Own and further develop the Application Solution portfolio for the G&A domain in line with the future state roadmap

Represent the domain in Architecture reviews conducted by the Enterprise Architecture Review Board

- Build presentations and request reviews

- Track Architecture change and ensure solutions are built in accordance with the approved Architecture

Represent the G&A domain in the Enterprise-wide Architecture practice (Guild)

- Contribute to building standards, patterns, Architecture and solution building blocks to drive standardization and increase speed of solution delivery

- Drive Innovation within and outside the G&A domain

- Promote an Enterprise mindset with laser focus on

- Collaborate and manage reference architecture patterns

- Assist with business capability assessments / heat maps

- Assist with portfolio IT plans

General

- Develop partnerships with other business and IT functions to understand end-to-end business needs, processes, and ensure awareness of other projects or changes to other systems that may impact the G&A solutions landscape.

- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in each of the G&A business units to understand business activities and business drivers, business requirements, solutions strategies, alternatives being considered and/or implemented.

Education and Experience

Should have minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience as an enterprise architect or solution in large organizations with preference in Life Sciences industry.

Experience in Business, Application, Technology and Information architecture in multiple G&A domain areas that include Finance, Procurement, Legal, Corporate Affairs, and Human Resources.

Experience with multiple SaaS platforms supporting G&A functions including ERP (SAP), Procurement platforms, Contract Lifecycle Management (CLMS) and other Legal platforms and technologies, HR platforms including Workday, Service Management solutions including ServiceNow, External and Internal communication, content management, and collaboration platforms and technologies that support corporate intranets and external websites.

Experience with AWS Private and Public Cloud, Application Integration, Process Orchestration, Application Development, and multiple Data & Analytics technologies highly desired.

Must be familiar with EA frameworks like TOGAF 9x and beyond, FEA, Zachmann

Strong group session facilitation skills and experience.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, management information system or business.

Basic Qualification

10+ Years with BS/BA or 8+ Years with MS/MA or MBA


 

The salary range for this position is: $195,670.00 - $253,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
