DOT Specialist
Job Summary: The DOT Specialist is responsible for assisting the DOT Compliance Manager and the DOT Department to ensure the company adheres to all applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.  The DOT Specialist will maintain records and will assist in communicating with internal employees on all FMCSA and DOT company drivers and company vehicles. Primary Job Function: + Assist in the process of tracking and maintaining driver qualification files per Federal Motor Carrier Safety. Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for DOT drivers. + Ensure all necessary training courses are completed by DOT commercial motor vehicle drivers. + Track, maintain and produce report on Driver/Vehicle Examinations from DOT Inspections. + Track, maintain and audit vehicle inspection reports for all DOT vehicles and trailers in accordance with FMCSA. + Apply for vehicle permits as needed. (annual, trip, overweight, oversize etc.) + Maintain internal processes to ensure efficient administration of DOT compliance. + Complete employment verifications on past DOT drivers for employers.   + Other duties/projects as needed. Experience: + 3+ years’ experience in Trucking Industry is required. Education/Training: + High school diploma or a GED. + Knowledge of the oilfield pipeline construction industry a plus. Competencies: + Strong communication skills and confidence to point out potential risks and non-compliant issues to branch, regional, and corporate management. + Knowledge of current state, federal, and local regulations. + Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize job duties and handle multiple tasks. + Ability to establish good rapport with branch employees, department personnel, and other corporate employees using written correspondence, proper phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills. + Experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word. + Willing and capable of handling a current fleet of 100+ Units. + Willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Physical Demands: + Regularly required to sit, talk and hear. + Frequently required to reach with hands and arms to grasp. + Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
