Job Title: Dough Preparation Lead  

Department:   Production  

Reports To:  Production Supervisor  

Substitute:   Production Supervisor and/or other Lead  

FSLA Status:   Non-exempt

Summary: As a member of the Martin's Family, the Dough Preparation Lead coordinates  activities of production worker family as they operate  m a chines to manufacture products with extraordinary quality.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  

Plans flow of materials through department according to work orders .  

Inspects,  measures , and takes samples of   product  to verify conformance to specifications .  

Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards .  

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules .  

Assists  workers in solving work problems .  

Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials .  

Studies production order to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and packaging requirements .  

Coordinates  action for substandard product .  

Observes packaging operations and inspects baskets and packages to verif y conformance to specifications .  

Manages inventory  through  transactions in the warehouse management system.  

Desi gnates  rotation of employees throughout Dough Preparation spots fairly and consistently and designates breaks throughout the day within the Dough Preparation area.  

Maintains time and production records, including break sheets, pre and post operational inspections, as well as other safety, food safety, and quality records.  

Coordinates  repair work with general maintenance .  

Adjusts’ recipes to sustain product quality .  

Receives bulk materials .    

Ensures cleanliness of work area is maintained .  

Assists in the training  of  new and  re-training of  existing employees.  

Relays any employee relations issues observed to supervisor.  

Attends quality lab meetings throughout shift.  

Run daily pre-shift meetings which includes stretching, safety talk, etc.  

Designates  rotation of employees throughout Dough Preparation spots fairly and consistently and designates breaks throughout the day within the Dough Preparation area.  

Enforces  and adheres to  safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice regulations .  

Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.  

Performs responsibilities of Dough Preparation  employees as needed.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:           

Assigns and directs t he work of dough prep employees.  Administers policies and procedures fairly and consistently.

Education and/or Experience:  

High School Diploma or GED;  

One to Three years’ related experience and/or training  

Experience in baking or manufacturing industry.  

Experience with operating forklift and pallet jack.  

Ability to successfully pass Food Safety HACCP training and competency test.  

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred  

Leadership Skills:  

Ability to influence and motivate others to embrace initiatives and pursue organizational development.  

Language Skills:  

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to build strong, trusting business relationships through listening, supporting and teaming.  

Mathematical Skills:  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unites of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  

Reasoning Ability:  

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

Ability to learn and understand bakery analytics information including key performance indicators (KPIs).  

Ability to identify and prioritize issues, generate solutions and use relevant information to drive decisions.  

Proficient in Microsoft Suites products including Outlook, Excel, Word and  Sharepoint .  

Ability to learn bakery systems, including Apex, reporting tools, etc.

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The temperature in the production area may be affected by outside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
