Drafter (EPFAB-2024-21637)
Bowhead is seeking a candidate to support the Drafting Department at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). This effort involves providing support services for Engineering Prototype Fabrication, Design & Drafting, Model Development, Gauging/Dimensional Inspection requirements, and other activities supported by NSWCDD. This position will be remote once training/provisional period is over, or they can work at the Dahlgren Bowhead office. Training/provisional period will require full time on site work.

ResponsibilitiesAs a Drafter, you will be responsible for preparing complex detail, assembly, and control drawings; printed circuit drawings; electrical schematics and diagrams; associated lists; notices of revision; and drawing revisions, conforming to applicable standards and specifications. Working knowledge of standard drafting practices is mandatory.
This position will primarily be a teleworking position until (if ever) the Dahlgren Base or Bowhead provides a location either on the Dahlgren base or in the Bowhead King George office space. During the beginning of employment, while training is being done, the employee will have to work at the Bowhead King George office space until deemed ready to telework, or if they choose, they could remain in the office. There will be training and assistance provided to help the employee be successful.

This role requires a high school diploma along with a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience. (Schooling and on-the-job training may be considered in place of experience)Extensive experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics is essential.Proficiency in the SolidWorks drawing package and 3D modeling software is required.Competency with Microsoft Office programs is necessary.Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels and external contacts.Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment, with the capacity to work independently or as part of a team.A solid understanding of industry standards such as ASME, ANSI, or ISO relevant to drafting and design.Considerable experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to ensure accuracy in engineering drawings.Proven experience in generating and managing Bills of Materials (BOM) related to design documentation.The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of the following:

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. Acquiring a clearance will be done with the assistance of Bowhead upon hiring unless the candidate already possesses a clearance.
