Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Drafter / Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings, part files and assembly models with configurations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in drafting, excellent organizational skills, and must have significant experience with SolidWorks, particularly in SolidWorks EPDM (Enterprise PDM) data management.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Create detailed technical drawings, and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
Collaborate with engineering teams to understand design specifications and translate them into accurate drawings.
Ensure that drawings comply with industry standards and regulations.
Understand drawing set-up for injection molded plastic parts, cast aluminum and machining drawings as well as ultra precision tolerancing for optical lens housings.
Using familiarity with configuration of multiple product lines, ensure consistency and accuracy in drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) creating Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as required.
Follow established configuration management processes to create and track changes and updates to product designs through the ECO process.
Utilize SolidWorks EPDM for effective data management and version control.
Utilize SAP for part search, BOM listings, and part change management.
Create specifications from OEM manufacturers. This may include working with suppliers for off the shelf parts with existing specifications or it may entail working with a supplier to create a document which defines the use, interface requirements, particular details for a given device (i.e. gear pitch diameter, minor diameter and major diameter) and specialty requirements (finish, precision, etc.).
Build assembly models using inter part relationships that are consistent with the design intent and think forward to how a sub-assembly will be mated to an upper level.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand design requirements and product changes.
Communicate effectively with team members to address manufacturing issues and provide timely solutions.
Job Qualifications:
Degree or Certificate in Engineering, Drafting, or a related field preferred.
2-3+ years of proven experience as a Drafter / Designer.
Significant experience with SolidWorks.
Thorough knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5 geo-tolerancing strongly preferred.
SAP experience strongly preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
