Scope of Responsibility:

The Cad technician uses AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor to create design plans for Sabre Industries shelters, utility structures, skids, platforms and mechanical parts. Essentially the CAD technician’s role involves creating electronic versions of technical drawings for the production of our shelters.

 

Essential Duties:

Operate CAD software to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms and recordsCoordinate structural, electrical and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent shelter plansLayout and plan interior room arrangements with the help of the Designer using AutoCAD softwareDetermine procedures and instructions to be followed, according to design specifications and quantity of required materialsCreate blocks from specifications sheets as requiredSetup viewports for details as requiredAdhere to drafting standards set by the engineering department

 

Position Requirements:

Education: Associate Degree in Drafting and Design related field preferred

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in 2D or 3D drafting using Autodesk products

Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical drawingsKnowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology this includes applying principals, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and servicesKnowledge of arithmetic, fractions, algebra, geometry and their applicationsKnowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software including applications such as AutoCAD 2017 edition or later or Inventor 2017 edition or laterMust have excellent listening skills and be able to follow instructionsMust have excellent math skillsMust have active learning skillsMust have the ability to see details within close range (within a few feet of the observer)Must have the ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are rearrangedMust have the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesMust have the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writingMust be detail oriented

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work overtime as requiredDemonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities.Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed.Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching.  Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.  Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.  Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing as well as answer telephones and greet customers
