Job Title: Drafting - BIM Manager - Madison, WI
Job Summary: The Drafting - BIM Manager is responsible for supporting BIM drafters and designers on modeling the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and technical systems in multiple phases of production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver BIM production work according to established specifications and within timeframes. Have a complete understanding of the deliverable elements of each project established. Monitor training and execution of drafting team and prove assistance where needed. Creation and maintenance of metrics to measure quality and efficiency of production work on an individual basis. Perform drafting operations for the determination of project plans and collect data for project designs. Perform fieldwork, documentation, research, and drafting tasks of engineering data as required. Perform regular computer software (BIM/CAD) and maintenance, upgrading, and troubleshooting. Maintain up to date working and technical knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to computer hardware and software applications. Maintain and track ongoing training for the BIM/CAD drafters. Maintain BIM/CAD & Trimble licenses, updates, and yearly support fees. Establish IKM’s estimated labor tables for both field and shop in the TSI software program using all SMACNA pressure classes and materials. Manage and maintain all TSI files for BIM, CAD, EST and CAM for Plumbing, HVAC and the Fabrication shop. Support IKM’s design engineers with design/build and plan and spec projects. Work with project teams for work scope requirements. Coordinate all BIM modeling projects along with project meetings. Standardize all IKM drawings with title blocks, notes, detailing, assemblies, etc. Convert Revit equipment into Autodesk fabrication and field installs. Establish spool drawings and templates for field and shop operations. Utilize the Trimble unit BIM/CAD program for field installations on all aspects of construction projects. Create work in progress (WIP) drawings and reports for job sites per the GC’s requirements. Establish working drawings for prefabricated items in both shop and field. Develop relationships with engineers, and customers for Design/Build opportunities. Responsible for the compatibility of all discipline’s BIM drawings for consistency of graphics, sheet layouts, scales, sheet numbers, title blocks, etc. to assure that the drawing set produced looks consistent. Design and develop MEP sets of design drawings using BIM, AutoCAD and REVIT software based on standards and engineer/architect’s layout. Review of MEP systems, interfaces with code officials, contractors, architects and other clients. Enter data into project files using BIM or AutoCAD using corporate standard symbology, layering, etc. Works with the Project Engineer/Manager to establish and maintain consistent graphic standards on individual assigned projects. This includes the interdisciplinary consistency between mechanical, plumbing, electrical, etc. May perform field activities as required. Participate in department meetings as requested. Performs additional assignments as requested and maintains a teamwork attitude.Experience:
At least 10 years’ experience in BIM/CAD drafting/design with expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D Knowledge of engineering mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Experience researching and interpreting field notes, engineering and construction drawings, digital redlines, GPS data, and other legacy data to identify and resolve discrepancies and/or missing data on assigned projects.Education:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 4-year Engineering degree. 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.Skills:
Knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM, REVIT, Blue Beam, and File Transfer (FTP Site) required. Excellent verbal and written communication required. With access to proprietary and other confidential information, must be highly trustworthy and able to handle confidential information. Must be organized, detailed and able to prioritize tasks. Fully proficient in design skills. Ability to design medium to large jobs with deviation from standard tools, products or practices as needed.Additional Information:
Valid driver’s license required. This is a full-time position. Typical days/hours for this role are Monday through Friday 7am-3:30pm. Moderate travel is required between IKM’s three office locations in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Madison.
