Amentum Space Exploration Division is currently interviewing candidates for a Summer Intern within the SLS Emulator System Engineering group. The position supports our NASA customer / ESSCA contract located within MSFC in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities\:
Work with a team of IATF SLS Avionics Systems & Test Engineers\:
Generates 2D/3D models of parts and assemblies to ensure well-documented lab design. Create, check and maintain design documentation for engineering labs. This includes preliminary conceptual design evolving to released design drawings. Interpret engineering models and drawings.Design documentation drawings include (but not limited to) 1) Structures for mounting electrical/electronic equipment, 2) computer equipment assemblies, 3) Cable Interconnect drawings, 4) 19” rack layout drawings. Prepare engineering product definition in accordance with ASME Y14.100 and related standards. Receive and implement redline changes to existing engineering drawings. Ensure part masters and bill of material attributes are accurate and up-to-date Working with Configuration Management to release updated engineering drawings into the as-designed lab configuration system. *

Current enrollment in an Engineering program or related BS degree program is required. Will consider MS degree students. Attendance at an ABET accredited institution is desired.
Must be able to provide own transportation.

Work Environment
Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<5%).
Telework Requirements\:
Requires the ability to have sufficient home internet for extended periods in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues. Sitting for extended periods at a desk to draft test plans, analyze data, write reports and perform various engineering tasks at a safe personal location.
Physical Requirement
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and other facilities (10%).
Equipment and Machines
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Attendance
Normal workday is from 7\:30 a.m. through 4\:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
Other Essential Functions
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
