Auto Train Driver

Job Description

The Auto Train Driver is responsible for driving automobiles between the vehicle reception area and the automobile carriers. This role requires strict adherence to corporate policies, health and safety protocols, and all applicable regulations.

ResponsibilitiesOperate the vehicle ramp for loading and unloading vehicles to both levels of bi-level vehicle carriers.Ensure the placement and removal of protective materials.Drive vehicles onto the carriers.Drive vehicles to the reception area upon arrival.Load and unload motorcycles onto Amtrak-furnished carts and tow the carts on and off vehicle carriers.Assist Chockers in the precise positioning of automobiles within the vehicle carriers.Wear and use required protective equipment while working.Take responsibility for personal safety while on the job.Perform other related duties as required or assigned.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma or GED (or equivalent reading, writing, and reasoning skills).Valid driver's license.Skilled in operating all types of vehicles.Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Successful completion of a pre-employment screening process.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in production, general labor, driving, loading, and transport.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work is performed at a rail car station with a shift from 9:30am to 3:30pm. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and adherence to safety protocols, including wearing protective equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lorton, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00
